Trying to determine if I can leave the ford transfer case in the excursion I end up buying (ex. 2000 V10 gas, 4R100, 273F) and mate it to my 04 Dodge trans 48RE. I've already got a dodge 273 which appears identical to the ford unit with one exception. The dodge uses a slip yoke connection at the rear of the transfer case and the ford uses a flange. see pic of ford NP273F So the ford would actually work better in my case, just shorten the driveshaft.
Also, does anyone know if Fords use a sensor in the rear of the transfer case for the speedo? I think I read somewhere they used a sensor on the rearend ringgear... . can't remember.
