Im looking @ replacement VP44's for my truck & I see that II has a stock & a "hi Perf" pump. what is the difference? the only mod I have on my truck is a Bully Dog outlook. I use the truck to pull my trailer & race car to the track, thats it. I want it as reliable & low maint as I can get it. but... ... ..... that trailer is REALLY damn heavy & the truck gets a workout every time I make the tow up the hill to the track. I figured a little more power would not hurt it any, which is why I went with the outlook (& am thinking about an exhaust).

thanks a bunch guys.

Bob

the high perf pump will give you some more power beccause it flows more fuel. Im not sure that you will like it if you tow a lot. ost people that run this pump have a lopey idle. It can make it difficult in backing a trailer and towing at low speeds. I would just get a stock IP.

Blue Chip Diesel has a brand new VP44 that has upgraded electronics like the II HRVP and also has some other upgraded parts that will certainly add to the life and performance. It's a upgraded option to a stock reman.

not hijacking the thread, but do the hot rod pumps put out more total fuel then say a so or a ho pump would? Would they be more reliabe also?

After the VP I would install a set of RV 275 injectors.

You will love them, 55 more HP and better mileage.

Best Bang for the Buck out there.

Hey Bob

As far as I know there is no Down Side.

If you are looking to stay fairly stock, not going to fall off the HP slope towards never enough.

Just my thoughts.

Actually I think it's more like 40 HP from everything I've read. You will definately see an improvement in uummph! Not huge, but you will see a bit more power while towing. If you add a used EZ for a couple of hundred bucks you will really notice even more uummph!

I didn't read your signature though... . If you have an auto trans only add one or the other or your trans will not like it. You would probably be able to find used 275s & a used EZ for about $400 for both in the TDR classifieds.

JMHO,

Right on guys, thanks for the info. the Bully Dog Outlook that I have, has 5 programable power stages, & seems to work pretty well. it also has a defuel feature if the EGT's get too high. I just put it in, so I dont know how well it works other than the few miles Ive put onto the truck since Ive installed it. when its on max HP, it sure makes a good difference in power. ;)

I guess the trans went out on the previous owner & she had it rebuild @ Aamco, Im counting the days until it drops over dead. so far it runs like a champ. I have to say with the exception of this injection pump, the truck as been pretty darn good to me.

thanks guys.
