Specifically:

Will a 48re valve body work for a 47re?

I know on older vb's you could just switch the wire harness.

Any info appreciated!

Yes they will work. I just recently put a 48 vb in my 47 transmission and it made a world of difference in my truck. Didn't have to change anything.

To my knowlegede, the major difference is the clutch count in direct and OD. That and some programming.

The valvebody should work out great!

got a 48 in mine (course modded by DTT) it jumped my line pressure up just a tad :) and it shifts so much nicer, more precise and snappy. j

46rh is a hydraulic only controlled transmission. The 47re and 48re are not controlled only by hydraulics but by electronics as well. I'm sure you could do some swapping and what not but it would probaly be a pain.

i do believe the converters are different right?

The 48RE TC is slightly heavier with better parts but still the same crappy fluid coupling. The major differences are in the trans and the programming.

My valve body is acting up and is being replaced under warranty. Of course it is on National Backorder so that must mean that there are other people having "issues" also.

41,000 on the odometer with about 5,000 of them towing a 7,000# load.
