I have seen several different posts regarding milage. I now have 11K on my '01 and stole it from the wife to drive to work. last couple of trips the computer has indicated 20+ mpg avg which is just fine. Previous trips the milage was down near 17mpg.
Now the question: will different fuels really make the difference? I had been using Texaco and had heard some bad press regarding cetane rating and actual fuel value(density) So last couple of tanks I tried the "Flying J Gold" Which is only available at the top of the Grapvine on I-5 .
Do "premium" diesel fuels exist in Southern California? If yes where? Who typically sells the better fuel and is actually aware of the specifics of their fuel? Seems like ""yessir we got diesel over there I think? Whats a cetane?????"
Reading numbers from other web sites 42 is "low" and "50" is more than enough cetane for most diesels. BUT NO ONE POSTS THEIR FUELS RATING!!(*&^%$#@
