You fellows who have had the resonator off your trucks, is the core directional? As in, can it be run backwards and still work? I am thinking about a modification on my '01.
I am an old muffler shop owner. Now, I would be the first to agree that gas and diesel motors flow differently and what works on one doesn't always work on the other. But, on a gas motor, the more volumn you can put between the manifold and the muffler, the better it will flow/perform.
Here is my idea. If it is practicle to turn the resonator backwards, move it to the rear and hook the small end to the tail pipe, eliminating the factory muffler. Fill the space between the factory down pipe and the resonator with 4 in. If the resonator is backwards, the now inlet will already be 4 in. This would not be difficult to build!
I guess my real question is if it would make the drone potential better or worse? I really do not see it as having a major performance difference over leaving the resonator in the stock position. What do you all think?
