Different Mufflers - Need Sound Clips And Or Video

I HAVE MY TRUCK STRAIGHT PIPED NOW , I JUST WANT TO LOWER THE NOISE JUST A LITTLE BIT , NOT TO MUCH THOUGH , I DO WANT IT LOUD, DOES ANYONE HAVE AND VIDEO OR SOUND CLIPS WITH THERE TRUCK RUNNING WITH A AUTOMATIC AND WHAT BRAND OF MUFFLER THEY ARE RUNNIN ? PLEASE SEND THEM TO ME , THANKS FOR YOUR HELP Oo.

Check out the MBRP or AFE specifically designed mufflers that bolt on to the 2004. 5+ trucks. The have pipes that take care of the low in high out offset that is in the stock muffler so your intermediate pipe is not in a bind and the MBRP one even has welded hangers vs clamp on ones that make the install a snap. Looks stock too! You can also get their cat tets pipes too if you want. As far as sound go to the MBRP web site and listen to their 2004. 5+ cat back systems and that is exactly how your's will sound as you already have 4 inch pipes etc from the factory. We have a 2004. 5 here at DPPI with the MBRP and the test pipe and a 4 to 6 inch tip and it sounds great when you hammer on it, but when cruising it's not noticeable etc.

I almost made one when I swithched out the stock muffler for the Donaldson 51".



I like the sound, no drone at highway speed and very little while pulling.

so everyone knowS, i do most of work with scott at massdiesel , have to remember that i am cheap , and sometimes alittle thick headed, but i am, man enough to admit to it , scott did say that it was going to be loud and warned me a couple of times but like everyone else we always want to see what will happen , i like the sound of being straight piped but certain rpm's it sounds like crap to me and i was looking for a muffler that would still make it loud but different than everyone else's rig , well i took off the 5"tip last night, cut off about 8" of 4" stock exhaust pipe and i installed a 18" x 6" stainless tip , well i got the sound i was looking for , its loud but it sounds like a big mack dump truck , it really raps when you want it too, SO the point of this story is when your diesel guy gives you advise - take it and think about it awhile because chances are he's already done it , heard about it, or fixed a problem like yours, LISTEN TO YOUR DIESEL GUY ! :-laf :-laf :-laf

I took off my stock cat/muffler and put on a banks stainless 4'' muffler. I would not recomend this at all!! It's so loud under load you can't talk to people riding w/ you! As soon as i get time it's gone.

hey scott , my truck still sounds good , if i got one of those short dynomax bullet mufflers would it change the sound alot or a little ? i was checking them out and the housing isn't much wider than the pipe itself so it can't dampen the sound alot , i just want sonething that will dampen the sound just a little,little bit,

That site does us DIESEL owners zero help. All you have is a bunch of gasser sound clips.



V8 gasser at 5000rpm does not equal I-6 5. 9 liter diesel at 3000rpm and 50PSI of boost.



Now youtube. sound quality is hit or miss there.
