While driving yesterday, I noticed that the Turbo seemed to have a squealing noise rather than the usual "spin up" whine that it always makes when accelerating. I also thought that when climbing a mild hill the exhaust seemed to sound harsher as if my exhaust system developed a small break before the muffler.

The outside temperature was around 90 and I had the AC going, not towing anything. No HP mods on the truck. Using Amsoil oil.

Is this a possible warning of the Turbo going South??????

good possibility. have you pulled the intercooler hose off to see if the compressor wheel has been rubbing the housing?

You would pull off the air intake hose coming from the air filter box.

First you wuld hear a woooo noise instead of only the eeeeeee

from spoolup (easier to hear with aftermarket oiled element filters and no air box), from the close clearance. After the wheel begins rubbing, boost builds slowly if at all and you may hear a metal to metal rubbing noise.

Thanks for the replys. As of present, I only took off the exhaust hose to see in the impeller truns freely, which it does. When truning the impeller by hand, there doesn't seem to be any indication of comming in contact with the housing.

Next I'll take off the intake and start her up as per your suggestion.

Thanks again and keep the good advise comming!!!!!!
