Differential fluid capacities?

Have searched the forums and found nothing except good advice on what to do and what not to do when changing the front and rear diff fluids. Can anybody tell me if 7 quarts of oil will re-fill the front and rear diff's of my truck? I am 35 miles from the parts store and that makes for a long walk or expensive repair bill. :{



Dealer was no help except to say they could change the rear for $112. 95 and the front for $98. 00 and while he is at he could do the fuel filter for $54. 95=$265. 90+ tax of course or buy the parts myself for $71. 04.

Seven will be just fine; you'll have a little bit left over. As you probably have already discovered, the front & rear gaskets are re-useable on the AAM's.

That is what I needed to hear. I had rather have too much than not enough

Just changed mine yesterday. A little less than 7 quarts to fill both the front and rear to 1/4 below the fill hole.
