Alright, I would not personally use M1 in any of my vehicles. I know of six guys who had $10,000+ rebuilds due to spun rod bearings in engines running M1 motor oil. I know of a dozen others running other brands that have not had that problem, including myself. That is my basis for the disdain for that product. Just my personal opinion.

I have personally had TWO Jeep engines die on me. One had about 120,000 miles on it before it died. The other had 64,000 miles on it. I used Mobil 1 on the second motor. The main bearings were all shot. The first was a 318 magnum. The second was a 360 magnum. Almost exactly the same engine. I know I personally won't be using Mobil 1 ever again.

Since I'm the guy that says 5-6 K oil changes with good Dino oil are the ticket for the engine, it may surprise you that I see no reason to change oil in the differential until 36 K if good quality synthetic oil is used. We go 100K intervals in the transmission and Diffs in our Class 8 trucks when using synthetic gear oil. No problems.

I'm with you Jim! On my two Dodge work trucks I do oil changes every 5k with Rotella. I did the diffs and t-cases early (10k?) and used Amsoil, they get done every 50k after that. The transmission stays dino and gets a flush and filter every 30k. Fuel filters are done every 10k and all of the fuel on those trucks comes from my tank which gets religious filter changes itself. This system has worked for me well enough to keep my '99 Ford 7. 3 running like a top for the last 250k miles.

I ran the Valvoline Blue bottle gear oil in the 99 with right at 500rwhp for about 20k miles.

I drove it like I stole it all the time and it came out almost the same color it went in as (golden).

Good oil for me.

Poured in M1 in my first oil change on my Honda 7 years ago, changed every 3000 ever since. I'm at 120,000 and no sounds, no leaks, no oil burning. The engine is a high revver and is still going strong. I will always use M1..... great oil in my opinion.

No knock on Mobil 1, but most Honda engines will run 200K or better on most any good quality oil with regular changes. Honda makes a fabulous engine, and you really have to seriously abuse one to have it go bad prematurely.
