quick question:
i have a few mods done to my rig and am still loking for more. what diffrance will the swap from 275's to DD3's make? i have a TC and VB from DTT sitting on my kitchen floor waiting to be installed so i'm not worried about the transmission. thanks for the info..... james. .

James,

A big power difference. About 75 hp. See this graph from DD.

Watching the dyno runs that I have, I question most any chart I see. I would say that since Lawrence dynoed all of those on the same dyno, the accuracy is probably better.
I will also say that I had the 275s, and then changed to DD3s. There is a BIG difference in performance. 75HP? Probably.

Questions for the chart readers: Did the 275 run include a boost module? We know that Lawrence requires a boost module for his bigger injectors. There are many factors, but the bottom line is much more power out of DD3s.

In the strictest sense - one shop, one dyno, and variable injectors will produce sound comparisons.
Keep in mind, though, Rob's question is important. The graph above could be using DDII and DDIII with a boost module and 275s without a module. This would make sense because I believe DDII and DDIII encourage the module and the purchase of 275s would normally be independent of a module.
So what, you say? When 275s are enhanced by a boost module and elbow, I would guess the curve would be about midway between 275s and DDIs as shown above (purple and green). IMHO Joe
Postscript Answer to the original question - a LOT of difference. #ad

I amended this post because I had said PS Answer to the..... and that may have been interpreted as Practical Solutions Answer.

More boost than needed = pumping losses (less hp, although sometimes a very small loss). The boost module is not needed with the 275 RV injectors. For example, Sickly developed only 43 psi boost @609 hp.

Really... ... ... I have no evidence as I haven't been on the dyno (I tried twice #ad
)
It feels less responsinve when I disconnect the PS Module. My imagination??
Not being argumentative, I really want to know and I don't want to tell the fellow Rammers a fib.

Joe(s). .
I think it would be interesting to dyno a Ram with 275s, then the same Ram with 275s and a boost module. Same dyno, same operator, same everything. I really don't know if there would be a difference, but the results would give us something to ponder...

if you have the boost module and no boost elbow the wastgate will open no matter what the boost module is doing. so in order to get the full effect of the boost module you also have to get a boost elbow. i'm not sure if the 275's will make over stock boost or not.

papa joe
with your boost module not hooked up have you ever got a s. e. s. light? if not you are not seeing over stock boost so there should not be any difference in power. now with a boost elbow you might see a s. e. s. light without the module.

here is my $. 02

Stock ETH: 21 psi MAX

ETH with 275's PS Boost module with NO boost elbow: 26 psi MAX

Above with elbow installed: 0ver 30 PSI

Above with Power Puck: 30+ psi from 1600 to redline.

the reason I say over 30 psi is because my gage only goes to 30 psi.

ok... . since we are once again on this topic... which injector is best for better fuel economy?

i just got back from LA fuel economy with only a k&n was 18. 5mpg with 100mi in town LA and the rest on 101 north. my goal is 20mpg... unrealistic?

I have dd1's, and really like them.

I just wish that I had gone for 2's (have a VA so would haave too much smoke w/ 3's). I'd rather have the extra fueling available, and let my foot decide how much to use. The money difference isn't much at all. Get the ones you really want the first time. I can't see spending the bucks just to go up one step like id have to do now.
