Got a new kodak dx3700 this thing should plug in to the wall it used so many batteries. Oh,but kodaks got that figured out for another 80. 00 bucks you get the camera dock that recharges. And while I'am VENTING let's not forget the memory card if you want to take more than 10 high res. pictures.

Shame on them for knowing that the charger isn't really option but a must have!!!!!!

Yea, It's on the verge of false advertising. How about that MSN $400 rebate thing a while back. They advertise the computer price after rebate, but it wasn't a true rebate. You had to sign a contract. Now that was bad.

Get a set on NiMH batteries and a charger. I've been through 4 digital cameras but still on my first 2 sets of batteries. (I have 2 sets so I can be charging one, using one.

Now you need a CD burner to save all those pictures. :(

I think the battery in the DX3700 has a proprietary battery. Otherwise I would have recommended the NiMH batteries too. I'm glad that I didn't buy the DX3700 if the battery isn't any better than that!

You might try to build an external battery pack, that will plug into the jack for the charger.

LCD

I don't know about the model you have, but all of the digatals I have seen are battery suckers if you use the LCD screen on the back to veiw with. I only use the LCD to screen the picture after I take it with the regular veiwfinder. If I limit the LCD use I can get many, many hours of use from one set of batterys.

Yep, that LCD really sucks down the batts. Try to replace them with lithium Ion if possible, they last the longest, don't get a memory and don't discharge much while at idle. If not Nickle metal hydriade (sp?) are still much better than NiCad.

Thanks, guys I guess this is a fact of life if you go digital!!!

PS check out that thomas site. Has alot of good info. on batterys;)

Follow up

Bought the 1700 mha Energizer AA rechargeable . Have taken at least 50 pictures this week an still on first charge, the camera seems alot quicker!

I highly recomend them. 8 batteries an a plug in charger. $19. 00 at SAM's Club:D

Can you take it back?

*edit*

I just read the post above mine; glad to see you

can use AA NiMh batteries! The following post is

just a suggestion since you are happy with your

Kodak digital camera. *end edit*

If you can, get either a Sony or Olympus digital

camera. Be sure to get one with more than 2 mega

pixel CCD and go for optical zoom rather than

digital zoom. I have been using an Olympus D340R

for 2 years, 1. 2 Megapixels, no zoom, 8 MB memory

card. It takes good pictures but compared to my

new Sony DSC S75 CyberShot, WOW! There is a huge

difference in image quality. I have the 64 MB

memory stick and the camera comes with a NiMH batt

which lasts a long time. Olympus also has a good

reputation in digital cameras. Have a Target

store in your area? They have good prices on both

Sony and Olympus digital cameras.

If you can't take the Kodak back sell it on Ebay

and get a Sony or Olympus! :D
