The Case Against Hillary Clinton.........

can ya hear me now?

If you don't want to print out anything larger than a 8X10 photo, then a 2. 3 megapixel camera is plenty. I'd go for a better zoom before the 3. 3 and up cameras. My personal favorite for the price is the Olympus C-700. It has a 10X optical zoom, 2. 3 MP and sells for under $400. Several of my friends have these and they put my little 3X zoom camera to shame. That 10X will come in handy if you do a lot of outdoor shots.

It has the 3x optical and I think 3+ digital. Dont you combine these together? Or is optical the way to go?

Cannon all the way!!

I have the S330 Digital Elph and it is tottally awsome.

There is also the S200 and S300 Digital Elph which are little bit smaller in size.

These camaras can fit in your shirt pocket and are greate for taking on hiking trips, skiing, or what ever.

The smaller the better ... in camaras that is.

agree with Todd

I have a little Canon S100 with 3&2. I love the camera but definately would like more zoom when taking outdoor/scenery shots.

I just bought a friend an Olympus D550 as a B-day present. Her birthday is not til August 22. I was told that the Olympus were the best brand right now, less complaints and more durable. Any thoughts on this camera, does anyone have one? I was also told to stay away from Sony because they are overpriced and need to buy their software.

Why do these treads come up after I already bought something?

I'm not sure on combining them. I heard that you try to get it optical. How good the digital zoom is, depends on the software in the camera.

I got a Kodak DX 3700. This is the first digital camera I owned, it's very easy to master. The only think I'd change about it is, I'd like an optical zoom. Mine is digital, and I think it could stand some improvement. Other than that, the camera is great.

I had a problem with battery life in the first one. Brought it back, and the replacement is (so far) much better. I noticed it has upgraded software in it (I think they call it firmware in a camera) and it's a definate improvement.

I got mine from Sears in February for $170. 00 ish. I brought it back last month... . no problem. :D

I have a canon A-20 and I like it... its not near top of the line anymore, but it works good paid $325. the software is REALLY easy to use. In fact a friend of mine just bought a sony (cant think of the model) he didnt like the software that came with it so we tried mine and it works perfectly! ..... But whatever you get will be OK, digital is SO the way to go!!!

Don't know nothing about cameras but we bought our daughter one of those Kodak DX3600(I think). Takes good pictures easy to use and not that expensive.

i have a sony DSC-P50. i like the camera pretty much as is. i have a 128mb chip for it so i can take many pictures on it. i usually run out of battery before memory. the software that comes with it does suck, but i use coral photohouse or jasc printshop instead. i like the interface i have with my camera. when it is plugged into the usb, it functions as F drive, so i just open files off it just like it was the harddrive. can upload and download quickly with it. . the only bad thing about it is if you are using flash, it takes a bit of time [a bit too long i think] to recharge for the next flash. i got it at a good time, there was a promotion on for a $100 mail in rebate on the camera and a $50 rebate on the accessory kit [case, charger and lithium battery]. i can't remember what it cost me [i paid dealer price on it, less the rebates] but i am happy with it.

[do kinda wish i had more opical zoom. digi zoom is not that great]

I have the Nikon 800 I would not recomend it. As for digital zoom I find it is useless. I use Adobe photoshop to manulipate any photos I use, digital zoom only crops the picture. The "paint" programs can do that and so much more with more control. Optical zoom is what you need, it brings the subject closer with out loss of resoulotion. The usb or fire wire hook up is nice to have, My camera came with serial hookup. It sucks! However aftermarket readers for the media are available. and I find them very useful. I use them for moving data as well as pics. I have Compact flash for both my camera and pda. I don't know much about the other formats. I do know that the memory stick is more expencive. All these things eat batterys, I have good luck with rechargables, I keep 8 AAs charging and 4 in the camera bag and 4 in the camera, alot of batterys, but I am rarely without charged batterys, If I am, AAs are available everywhere. think about this when the salesman trys to sell you on the propritary built in rechargable. Be careful with the assessorys lots of places will give a deal on the camera and rape you on the extra stuff! for memory try pricewatch.com sorry about the long post but I wish someone would have told me this stuff when I bought mine.

I don't know of anybody that uses the digital zoom. It really screws up your pictures. Don't even think about that part of the specs. Optical is where it's at.
