While the foibles of the RB-4 Nav. radio have been beat to death here, and I have certainly vented my liver RE: same on more than one occasion, here's something else to chew on:

IS anyone else experiencing a dim display on the RB-4 while the ambient temp. in the cab is cold? It usually takes 5min or so before the radio display is of normal brightness. Is this yet another inherent problem with this overpriced POS radio, or do I have a clunker? Inquiring minds wanna know!

It's just because it's cold. Put your laptop in the truck overnight and see what it looks like after you boot it up when it's cold.

Mine does it too. It is the nature of LCD displays. Mine took 5 minutes or so to brighten up the other night. It was -10 degrees.

LCD's do react very slowly when cold, nature of the critters.

You might want to also check whether it is on night or daytime display. I know mine when it is on night time display during the daylight hours, i can barely see it.
