I was in line at Mickey D's when I noticed my headlights dim for about 5 seconds then return to normal. I was like WTH? A few minutes later they did it again. This time I watched the volt guage drop also. It moved to about 1/2 way down. It did it at least 3 times. There was nothing on, a/c etc. Once I was back on the road it stopped. There are no warning lights on. Any ideas? Thanks. Milage is 8200.

You must have been parked at McDonalds long enough for the engine to cool off to the point that the grids cycled when you started it to leave.

Paul,

I posted a very simular thing as well and rest assure your truck is fine. When the engine is cool or the air is cooler than the motor wants it cycles your grid heater and then everything dims and the volt meter drops and then it all goes to normal.

Still bugs me but just the way it is. What is more fun is when you are leave your house only going 10mph due ot school kids walking to the buss stop and your lights dim out and brighten again. Just makes me wonder what the kids are thinking???

I'd rather deal with grid heaters cycling then with Glow plugs and the problems the Ford camp has with'em:rolleyes: I hooked 2 leds to my grids and mounted them on my piller pod with my gauges and power switch. Now I know when they are cycling and I know that both circuits are functioning:)

Ok, that makes sense. It has been cooler(45-50) and I had only been on the road for a cpl minutes. I did not get the grid heater icon light when I first started it. You'd think It'd have to be colder than 45. I did shut the truck off when ordering.
