Are our radios in the Second Gen Trucks Din and a Half or Double Din?
I was thinking they were Double Din.
I want to replace my radio but I do not want to use an adapter plate.
Open to Ideas..
Thanks.. Gary

You'll have to do some work to fit a double din. You'll find great examples if you do a search
The 1 din and a half radios were not popular so I think the manufacturers have dropped them.
I've got a single din Alpine radio with a plate for 9 years and it looks good. Will have to upgrade sooner or later to have blue tooth, usb, aux... but my truck is so noisy that I don't often listen to music :(

I don't turn on the radio (Alpine unit also) half the time either. Especially on the highway when the windows are down.

Thats what I have. Alpine since it was new. One or 2 years ago I got a new alpine with the bluetooth. That works great. They wanted to put the mic up by the mirror. But instead I had them run the wire under the dash. Initially I was just going to hold it with my hand when I used it. But instead I mounted it next to the cig lighter. Ran the wire between the ash tray and the front of the dash and you cant even see it. I just roll the windows up and have no problems hearing anything. If its too hot I turn on the a/c

For crying out loud, who woulda thunk it! Never heard of such. I do know about the radios back in the day that used tubes:)

Ok. So I guess it is Din and a Half huh?
I did the Crutchfield Search and came up with Single Din units only.
I was under the Impression it was a Double Din in the Gen 2's. I had a head unit all picked out.
Crap.

Local radio install shop. Mine charged me about $100 to do the install of a Kenwood double-DIN unit a few years ago, modify the dash via careful cutting, and it looks factory. Any good shop is quite familiar with the problem and has someone who can fabricate something that looks nice.
