In the air about what service to subscribe to. Dish seems to offer better prices. direct has better channels like Oln and other hunting fishing stuff. ANYone have either want to praise/complain about them ???

I have 2 DirecTV receivers at home and 1 in the RV. We've used DirecTV since the early 1990's. They had some early growing pains, but we're very satisfied customers today.

So far (< year) been happy with Dish!

Sure beats the previous experiences with the 8' movable dish and cable!!!

As with just about anything, sure individuals experiences will vary :-laf

I have Direct, my buddy has Dish. Direct's DVR is MUCH better than Dish. That's the biggest difference I see.

Why is Direct TV more RV frendly? They both use the same dish. I can set my dishnetwork up in a campground in around 5 minutes. I use a dish on a tripod. I used to have a dish on the roof of the camper, sure you could stay dry but it took 10 minutes to aim it and it only looked at one satullite (no locals if you look at only 1 bird)

Budweiser here or the occasianal sam adams draft or fosters draft

let me ask you this if a man had a FEW locations he wanted to watch at could he get the 4rooms free deal and use the receivers and cards in diffrent locations provided he had a dish for each box? ? like one at work one in bedroom one at the beach condo one at the mountain cabin?

I guess my question is do the boxes have to be linked in any way ?

its not like your cheating them after all you can only watch one tv/box at a time!

Yes - you can activate them anywhere. You are paying for each receiver every month, so the question is why do you want 4 if you are only going to watch one at a time?

Had Direct TV for 2 years, went with Cable when I moved. . Satellite faded during rain or snow storms, and I prefer the cable internet/TV package combo. .

Dish Network has a auditing dept. that may call you and ask you to read some numbers from all the boxes on your account. If you tell them that you cannot access 1 or more of the boxes at that time, they assume that you have installed them at another residence, which is against their terms of use, and permanently disable those boxes. DirecTV does not care if you install them in your RV. This issue applies to multiple sets on a single account with mirrored service. Dish will force you to set up a separate account (at full price) for the RV.

I have comcast ISP and basic cable, plus dish network. (comcast is $5. 00 cheeper if you buy the lowest cable package with your ISP)

Yes some times it rains hard and I loose signal for around a minute on dish. But then every time the power goes out the cable don't work for the next couple hours. my Sat system runs on my generator.

In theory, I suppose.

In our case, we pay the going rate for the primary DirecTV HDTV home receiver. The upstairs receiver and the receiver in the RV are both mirrored receivers for which we pay $4. 99/month. And, yes, DirecTV knew the receiver was in the RV - they are the ones that suggested adding it to the home account as a mirrored receiver instead of activating and deactivating an RV account every time we used the RV.
