I am going to a big city and don't want to get my truck stolen while I'm sleeping. Does anyone know what I can unplug under the hood to keep the engine from starting? It would have to be something that won't set an error code and then I could replug to use the truck. I don't know if this is the proper forum, but would appreciate any advice you experts can give.

Thank You, Charlie

Isn't the 140 amp fuse the one that blows if you short the alternator stud (in '99 before the rubber boot was installed) when changing the oil filter? If so, I thought the truck still starts but doesn't charge the batteries.

Could pull fuel pump relay, starter relay, clutch interlock connector under the dash or all three to make sure!

That's correct. In my case it even started and ran long enough to get us 8 hours from home before the truck died. Don't let others change your oil.

You can pull the fuel relay in the distribution box under the hood. It will not set a code unless cranked over. If cranked over it will set P1693 and P1689. Trust me I know!!!:) :)

I used to always pull the relay for the starter. It is in the black box behind the battery on the drivers side. Look at the under side of the lid and it tells you which relays do what.

If you try to start the truck it doesn't crank. This will not cause the check engine light to come on.

On your 2002 you can pull fuse #9 (inside truck, by driver's side door), truck won't start.

Now if they have a flat bed.....

On my 99 Q/C 4X4 I can pull the 50 amp fuse under the hood its on the right side of the block 3rd fuse in from the end. It cuts the power to the ignition (fuel control) and the truck will not start. Thats how I had to shut it down when I lost my oil on the parkway and the turbo-minder was not ready to shut it down.

I do what C. does as well. Whenever to park my truck unattended in an area I am not sure about I pull the starter relay. It seems to work.
