Can anybody explain to me how to disable my wastegate? I have a2001 auto with about 420 hp. any info would be very helpful. Thankyou, Jim.

if u actually do have 420 HP and u want to disable the wastegate, then kiss u're stock turbo goodbye. They won't last. But if u want to, then just pull the hose or block the hose to the wastegate. , Also u can pull the wastegate off and bolt thewaste gate arm closed, . . or there is the turn buckle way. If u need more than 35 psi boost, spend the money and get a bigger turbo. Its cheap to add fuel, but its not cheap to add more and more air. If u don't add the air u will crack the head, crack the piston, scrore the piston and block. So pay it now or pay it later, . . good luck.

1/8" pipe plug will do. Plug the outlet going into the wastegate actuator, then plug the wastegate actuator line with something so it's easy to return to stock for warranty work. This is what my truck has on it. I get better than 40 lbs boost. closer to 45lbs. Dunno exactly, gauge stops at 35. :D

Reb. B I don't plan on doing any heavy racing or full time WOT. I just want alittle extra boost if I need it. Do you still advise against this? thanks for your input. diesel nut-how long have you been running like this? How many miles? thanks. -Jim Shaw

Four of my friends with 24 valve CTD also run propane in their trucks with no head gasket problems. Will my stock turbo handle propane with no wastegate mods?

JSHAW - Ran plugged wastegate for about 14K miles, fairly hard. Lots of towing and hotrodding around. No real problems to speak of, but it will wear out the turbo faster than if you left it alone. Everything has a drw back. It will work fine for a while if you want to get a new turbo, it'll hold you over for a while. If your nice to it like you say, it should last quite a while. It's a gamble either way. Nice thing is if you still want to use your warranty all you have to do is pull the plug and reinstall the elbow. Good luck.

WASTEGATE

Tool Man ,it's not a stock transmission,it's an ATS upgrade which I love. The 420 HP includes the propane that started out as a BullyDog system. When I installed the regulator itleaked so bad I had to shut it down. I called BullyDog and they told me at least 2-3 weeks for a replacement! They said they could ship parts to fix it which made me a little wary, so I asked around and the most popular answer was ATS. I called them and had a new system the next day. It works great. I turnbuckled my wastegate for a temporary fix. The truck is going to Precision Diesel on wed. for tweaking and a turbo recomendation. Any favorites for turbo upgrades?

WHEW! I thought you found the secret of transmission youth ;) Me I love the PDR 40 (Now summer is here she is a lil' laggy and smokey) but the performance makes up for that.
