I have been wanting to do a gate glide for a long time now and once I got it done I was kinda let down but then that seems the case on many aftermarket things.

I followed the directions and find that the cylinder sets so far back that the cable bends and slides across the bed pillar. Did I do it wrong or is that as good as it gets? Looks hodge podge to me :(

Either the cable will eventually shred its plastic covering, the cable will wear through my bed liner or both.

You could move the tailgate piece towards center just enough to clear the pillar or leave it and put a low friction spacer or something to keep the cable from chafing.

Try an EZ Down. Works as advertised. $65.

My brother bought one immediately after seeing mine work. He's tight. He won't even pay $35 to join TDR.

Not very impressed with the design. :rolleyes:

Looks like a very poor/cheap design... Sorry. :{

First, can you get a refund/return it. ;)

Buy the EZ... . :cool:

If you can't uninstall and return, as a temp fix you could try the stick on chair/furniture "gliders" that go on chair/table legs to keep them from scratching your floors. The plastic kind, not the felt type. This might give you some time to come up with a shim solution for the tube without tearing up your liner or the cable.

my guess is that the mounting brackets were not designed to work with a bed liner. if you could bend or modify the mounting brackets to move the spring assembly in, you would probably be ok.

BTW, is it true that the EZ down does nothing to assist you when closing the gate?

i understand that you can open the gate and just let go, but what sense does it make if it doesn't help you lift it back up to the closed position?

I will ask about a return but you know how that goes with installed stuff but maybe I will get lucky cuz Geno's is a pretty good company, I buy from them all the time.

The EZ down does not assist on the way up but would be better than nothing. I need something that disconnects easily cuz I remove my tail gate sometimes. I thought I would really like this product but doubt its going to stay.

edit Good idea... I just called and Geno's is great, send it back they said.
