At 130k (and having some death wobble issues), I replaced the trac bar, converted to inverted "T" steering, and put in a new PSC box. The trac bar and steering conversion were done first (along with an alignment) and the death wobble was gone. Still wanting tighter steering, I ordered a PSC steering box. Surprisingly, there was no improvement at all in the "slop" with the new box. After having a friend turn the steering wheel today, the ONLY movement I could find was in the shaft coming out of the steering box where the pitman arm attaches. I'd swear it moves an 1/8" side to side.
I know there are aftermarket brackets to stabilize the shaft, but I don't think my original box (with 130k on it) had this much movement. I can understand using the stabilizer brackets to prevent wear and eventual movement in the shaft, but to have one this loose right out of the box? #@$%!
My disappointment with the box aside, has anyone used one of the steering stabilizer brackets to successfully eliminate the side to side play of the shaft once it's become loose?
Thanks in advance.
