Disconnet Jordan??

The instructions with the Jordan Ultima controller suggest that the device mounted on the brake pedal arm be removed when not towing for extended times (what ever that might be).

Are any of you Jordan users actually doing this?

How significant a problem would it likely be to just leave it instarlled all the time??

I always disconnect mine. All you have to do is pull the black plastic piece with the cable going though it till you get enough slack to guide the cable through the slot in the metal bracket on the pedal. I have a bread tie fed through the steering column that I tie up the cable with when not in use. . Takes less than 30 seconds for the whole operation. I think it is a great idea.

I normally disconnect mine, I asked the same question a while back and seemed to be that most people don't. I have had problems with the spring loaded assembly falling out of the bracket and interfering with the brake pedal when It is in the disconnected position. I was considering a way of keeping it out of the way so this can't happen, I figure it's probably a good idea to disconnect it when you are not using it.



I remember when I purchased my controller, Jordan told me that they are using a the same potentiometer that is used in Nintendo game controllers and is rated for millions of actuations.

I don't disconnect. Don't think it's really an issue. And if it is (a couple of million stops later) I'll see if Jordan can fix it, or purchase another.

I don't disconnect mine either. I think it would do more damage to mess with it than to leave it alone. I usually tow every two weeks or so anyway. Leaving it connected, you also know it's still working.

I disconnect mine. . Really like the controller and the Gent that makes 'em recommends disconnect. .

I have done it both ways. Currently it is disconnected as I don't plan on towing the 5er for several months. I placed the base of the spring loaded device back into the round hole and it seems to enjoy the ride.

just. today installed the Jordan Brake. Also got . 03 reading. The Jordan is replacing another brake controller. Question I have is that all the holds the controller in the bracket, one little set screw? Do any of you have a 4 wires going to the brake controller? One was for ground, one was for power, one was for brakes and one was for stop lights. The Jordan only has 3 wires, what happens to the stop light wire? or what happens to the stop lights?

The Stop light (brake switch) wire is not used with a Jordan Controller. The controller recieves its signal from the cable that you attached to the brake pedal . Your previous controller (and most others) needed to know when your foot was on the brake, thus the need for the fourth wire.

I don't disconnect - it's not worth crawling under the dash to do. If the potentiometer goes bad, I'll replace the thing. No big deal.



Every Jordan I've seen shows very low current under braking when no trailer is connected - I don't worry about it as it has no noticeable effect on the performance of the unit.
