Dinner anyone???

This show just does not do much for me. I loosely followed the "junkyard dog" Chevy to completion. The car was sharp, no complaint there, some of the crew are first rate, some not. Boyd and the overall theme come across as boring.

Maybe Big Paulie needs to go over there and kick some butt with his size 12's?

I think the problem is Boyd isn't Big Paulie. I love American Chopper but American Hot Rod doesn't have near the interest factor to me.

I watched it last night for the first time. The tension seemed rather forced, not natural like what you see on American Chopper.

Of course family's do always know how to fight with each other.

On the other hand it was cool seeing some of what goes into a car like that, the interior work for example.

AHR

Just turn off the sound, and dig the cars, tools, and the talent. I only listen to the bodyman,Charlie, & whoever that old geezer fabricator is. He is a hoot, & seems to be the most talented one there. The x-wife is a rag. Don.

the metal fab guy seems to be the only genuine character on that show, except for maybe the miserable secretary... they are trying too hard to be American Chopper, just like nearly every reality show has become.

I like the project manager, the bald guy. And I like watching the bodyman work.

Does Boyd wear that same shirt everyday? You guys are right about the ex ole' lady. What a battleaxe.

I like the show. Personally I watch car and bike shows for the cars/bikes & workmanship - they can leave the soap opera on daytime tv IMO.

I'm liking it so far. It's funny how they make those young guys look like such goofballs - Beetle Bailey, Blue Bear, and the wheel guy. The wheel guy looked kind of crushed when Boyd was irritated with him for blowing work time to make that little wheel medallion thing. LOL Then he gets reamed by the rag x-wife for breaking a tool. I like how they have to practically beg her for basic supplies. I'm thinking they must be embellishing her snottiness. Otherwise, I don't know how she's gone this long without a wrench upside the head from one of those guys.

That is because she owns half the business!:--)

The only guy who comes across as an ass on the show is Boyd, the rest is kind of cool.

I am like Steve, I just watch to see how they do all the cool stuff and how the cars/bikes etc are built. One can learn alot from watching

Oh yeah, I understand that. I just meant it's funny to watch how they all interact with each other. The look on the guy's face was comical to me. I suppose any of us would look just as goofy if our daily work lives were shown in little selected snipets edited together with reactions that may or may not even be related to each other.

I like the stuff they build (although that yello and blue paint scheme on that one car just didn't work for me) but the "acting" just plain sucks.

That is the problem, they are acting instead of just building.

Like Steve said, I watch just to see the work they're doing. I'll be able to take some of their tips and apply them to my project:

1936 Hudson Terraplane 2-Door Sedan. Suicide doors, center-fold hood, etc, etc, etc.

Go to the car shows and you'll see the sweet 20s, 30s, 40s Fords & Chevys, maybe a few Plymouths and Dodges thrown in, but you seldom, if ever, see an early Hudson Terraplane.

One day, though ... ... ... .

Wayne ;)
