Very disgruntled,

Hello everyone, I am curious to see if anyone else out there has had the same problems as I. I am in the Navy stationed on a carrier in Virginia, and as you can imagine am very busy. I went to GREENBRIER DODGE in Cheaspeake, Va. for some warranty work. While changing my oil I noticed some leakage coming from my rear main seal. Upon further investigation the front seal on my 6 speed was also leaking. The dealership took care of the leaking seal and replaced the transmission fluid. I saw the clutch, it was full of oil, yet they did not replace it, because it hasn't failed. My gripe is the cold, 'I don't care' attitude of the management there and the fact that the clutch on the 6 speed is the weakest link of the powertrain. I only have 25K on the clutch. I called the factory warranty number and they said sorry.

DO I have any other options or do I just start saving now for the new clutch?

Thank you,

Mike

I understand your frustration with this issue, I would give them 1 more chance and let them know its there last chance to make it right. Look for another dealer too, maybe there is a good one that wants your future business, seams that these dealers are way bad or way good, I too am looking for a good dealer as my wife now want a new Cummins for her use, good luck... ... ..... That Stinks....

Did you tell them you are a member of the TDR with around 13,000 members, some of the mechanics at the dealership I use are and I seem to get "better service":D .

Too bad you aren't on a Destroyer, you could lob one down range to those dirty ba$tards. :D :D

Greenbrier dodge

Mike I bought Big Green there and have had a lot of work done including rear end fluid change, several oil changes and transmission fluid change. I have worked with Mickey Diment who is a good guy. I am a former Navy JAG and a local attorney who can light them up so I will be glad to help a shipmate for free. PM me if you would like and we will contact the Service Manager. They are good guys and usually very customer oriented. I wonder how they would feel if ships company didn't step foot there. Tidewater dealers are heavily dependent on military sales and you should be getting your stern kissed. Do not give up.

I saw the clutch, it was full of oil

This could lead to slippage real fast

.

I would just hook up to something very heavy and do a road trip. Now if the chain isn't long enough to go very far. Then use more throttle till the chain breaks.

Like mimprevento said. This will get their attention real fast. If the dealer thinks they are getting black listed from Mil people. They will run very scared.

Jim,

Put it in third and punch it till it fries

That was my first thought - As much as it sounds like fun, I agree with the others and think the dealer should make right by you. You have three really big things going for you:

1) You are presently serving in the military,

2) Paid a great deal for your truck and

3) A TDR member.

The dealers close to NOB rely heavily on the folks in the military (remind them of that). Try this - pay the Service Manager a visit, in uniform bring a recent issue of the TDR tuck it under you arm and a copy of your bill of sale - show him both. If he still doesn't get the picture, mention that not only are you a member of a 13,000+ strictly Dodge/Cummins owners organization, but a member of an organization protecting all of us from the likes of Sadam, Osama & Company. If that doesn't work, screw em` do some burnouts, start in 3rd gear till is slips then really punch it - they'll wish they changed it sooner once they have to replace a warped flywheel, clutch disk and p-plate.

Good luck Jim,

Thanks for the input guys. Tomorrow, I'm gonna go down to the shop and talk to them.

Please, correct me if I am wrong, but isn't the clutch considered a wear item like the brakes, and therefore, not warranted by the 3/36? Or am I just reading the manual wrong?

Please advise.

Mike

Mike,

I believe that is correct about the clutch. However, the point here is that another problem that IS warrantied is the result of your clutch problem.

Good luck!

You think your mad--I bought my truck from those @#$#$%%, and let me tell you of my one and only dealing with those suckers, went in for oil change and couple of small adjustments and stood around for 1/2 hour and never could get anyone to wait on me--went home and got so @#$% mad called manager of dealer ship and of course got lots of lip service... . short of it is drive out to STAR Dodge corner of 460 and 58, about 1/2 hour for me, but they have a real live diesel mech..... every time I have taken my truck in, they got it right the first time!! Told Greenbrier I would have the last laugh!?! R, J. B.

P. S. email me if you want to talk... ...

DC does not care about that. I had a rear seal leak. Replaced the rear seal under warranty. Would not replace rear brake pads that got wet from seal leak. They also did not clean up any of the lube in the rear wheel drumm. Had to do it myself. Gave them a talking too. They made sure they did not send me an evaluation sheet so I could hurt their 5 star rating. Every other time I used them I got a phone call and evaluation sheet. They are not stupid. They are just lazy and sloppy and not customer focused. I would never buy another Dodge, unless I wanted another CTD, then I would have to get it at $6k to $7K off MSRP to make up for the future crap I would have to take.

What jsnyder said. If you read something to the effect. . that if a coverd failed item has caused the failure of a non covered item then both items are covered.
