Anyone ever owned a BMW Isetta?

Satellite Dish Pointing Device

My cable bills have gotten out of hand. I'm paying $40. 00 for basic cable. I've been getting HBO for free. :) IMO this is still wayyyy too much.

I've been seeing dish TV for less. Does anyone have this? Can you comment on it?

I dont need 500 channels. I usually watch HBO, TNN, weather channel, OLN, history channel, learning channel, Fox news, FX, and the food channel. :p Wife likes Nickelodian, and whatever local channel that has her soap operas on.

I've also been considering a different ISP. My dialup has been absolutly assinine latley. I've been, in the past, connecting at 50. 6Kbps. I cant get a connection faster then 33K, and the "norm" is a 24K connection. This sucks!!

If I went to sattelite internet, would it even be off the same dish?? Money is an issue on the internet, I'd like to get the most bang for the buck.

TIA

Eric

I can't tell you about the internet. But I'm getting all the channels you listed plus for 30 bucks a month on Dierect tv.

And it does'nt go out all the time, as a matter of fact it never goes off, except in a real bad snow storm you might loose the signal for a few minutes.

Eric,

If you have not change anything in your computer, you might want to look at your phone line for the slow dial-up speed. If you have a regular wired phone, (not a cordless phone), hook it up to the line that your computer dials on, pick up the reciever and press 1 number key to get rid of the dial tone. If you hear ANY noise, that will slow down your connection speed. 56 K modems are especially sensitive to line noise. If you have noise, contact your phone service privider and let them know. Sometimes the first few rainstorms of a season will get in connection boxes and create line noise. If you do not hear any noise, contact your ISP and see if they have changed anything. If they have recently upgraded equipment, you might need to make some changes in your modem protocol or init string. These are kind of unlikely, but worth checking out. I used to own and operate an ISP, so I have a little experience troubleshooting these problems! :D

On the Dish internet, not sure where you live, but out here, the last time I checked, the Dish internet was still having it's share of problems. You might check into cable internet, it's FAST and always on.

Patroit: Dish network cost me 41 dollars a month for 150 channels. That did not include any premium channels or any network feeds. Some areas will not allow local or network channels, so check with Dish or Direct tv.

A lot of the included channels are many different music forms , many of which I don't like.

Dish Network....

I have Dish Network and love it. 22. 00 bucks a month gets you the top 40... for ten more you get the top 100. Check out www.dishnetwork.com for all the specifics. FYI, I know two people who had Direct TV and they had nothing but problems. Maybe they were just unlucky. :)

I also have Dish at $22/month and would not consider going back to cable. I have a local dial-up ISP at $9. 92/month. My loyalty is to my checkbook.

DISH

I've had DishTV for quite a while now and really like it. Picture quality is perfect and sound is awesome. Even have digital audio feeds (optical, even!) to run into my sound system. I have the 150, locals, HBOs and Cinemax (Skinamax) for like $64/mo. Cable would be about $70 for the same.

I've had cable modem internet for about 3 years now and really like it. Unfortunately, ATT has been jacking the rates up and this year have done it twice. In fact, they just sent an email saying they were going to start "bundling pricing" - meaning that if I DON'T get either digital phone service (not available in my area) or digital cable (tried it, really crappy quality, both pic and audio) they're going to raise my rates another $4/month. Don't mind the fact that I have ATT local and national long distance and ATT wireless. I complained to customer service, but probably fell on deaf ears. What they don't realize is that it will cost them ALL my ATT business. ATT phone cares and was concerend, but ATT wireless couldn't have cared less because "we're a different company". Anyway - didn't mean to get into a full fledged rant, here.

DishTV and broadband internet is the way to go.

Thanks guys. Keep the ideas coming, I have some time to make a decision.

JWeir, big thing here is squirrels. They eat everything, and the houses are too close anymore to use the 22 on them.

Roycrown, I have the same loyalty. The checkbook!!:p
