I need to adjust my parking brake (rear disk equipped). I thought that I had seen the instructions posted, but darned if I can find it now. Can any supply the instructions, or link to them.

Thanks.

USE that nifty "search forums" feature up there at the top of the page, search for "E-brake adjustment" in the 24 valve - no engine section, and your questions will be answered... ;)

Here ya go

There is a brake drum inside the rotor that the parking brake shoes contact. On the backing plate there's a rubber plug which will let you access a star wheel adjuster, just like regular drum brakes have. The plug is recessed a little and kind of hard to see.

What I did on mine was loosen the cable, then turn the star wheel until the shoes start to drag. Sorry, I don't remember which way, it'll either bottom out or the shoes will drag. Then I re-adjusted the cable. Now my parking brake pedal only goes half way to the floor and it holds good.

I just went out an looked at mine because I have the same problem... pedal goes to the floor with very little parking brake. I didn't find any little rubber plug on my backing plate... just a fitting the cable attached to that slides forward when the P-brake is applied. Are the 2wd different from 4wd?... mine is 2wd.

Brake adjustment...

Jim, I don't know if there is a difference between 2wd and 4wd, but here is how I adjusted mine. Right under the cab,(driver's side) there is an adapter where the cable to the pedal is hooked to the two individual cables that go back to each wheel. Just cinch up the nut on the end the pedal cable. It doesn't take much.

I did hte cable adjustment, and while it did give me more pedal, it did not improve the holding power at all.

Anybody know what's involved in getting to the internal shoes? I can't imagine that mine are gone at 53k but I can't think of anything else.
