Is it me or did they start playing "Christmas" commercials early this year?

They started a day or 2 before Thanksgiving, playing Christmas music on the radio. It is getting so I can't stand to listen to any of it anymore. :(

Most Christmas commercials started the day of Thanksgiving here.

Yeah, Americans really stink. They make me sick. Maybe I'll move to a better country. Oh that's right, there ISN'T one! I think I'll stay right here in the U. S. A. , it's not so bad after all.

I have always tried to watch my purchases and "Buy USA" when possible. Recently I was at a locally owned store looking at jeans with my wife.

The jeans she was interested in were a name brand, were made in Mexico, and cost around $40. The jeans I was looking at were Wranglers, made in Mexico of US material, and cost around $40.

We decided to look elsewhere. We went to WalMart and she found Wranglers for $17 made in Mexico with US material.

I did not find what I was looking for but was at Dick's Sporting Goods(a chain like WalMart) later that week and found the Wranglers I wanted on sale for $25 with a $10 rebate. Total cost $15. 00.

I am the same way. I have been buying my Wrangler jeans for years at the same local Western wear store. Years ago, I shopped around for the best place to find MADE IN USA clothing. I found "Boots, Etc. " near Commerce, Ga, near where I live. The Wrangler jeans and Carhartt overalls I wear are still made in USA. They also have made in USA boots, shirts, belts, socks, jackets and hats. Their prices are reasonable and service is good. I always comment on the fact that they give us who care a choice. They have the "cheaper" lines of the same "brand" names, but also carry the good USA made lines. Happily, they say I am not the only one who tells them they look at country of origin when I buy from them.

If WE don't support our country, WHO WILL? Sure won't be the chinese!

Was just telling my wife this morning that I just don't understand that shopping frenzy day after thanksgiving. I'm sure glad her & I are on the same page. We went to town at 8 this morning & was home by noon. Got my two grandsons taken care of, & just have the daughter & son-in-law left to buy for.

I think more & more people are doing shopping online. I know I like having things delivered to my house & not having to go fight the crowds.

I agree with you on this. You should go check out ebay and see what some people are selling these things for, it is nuts. I saw one last night starting bid was $1500. 00 for that xbox 360. :--)

Happy Hoildays to you all

saw a cartoon on the paper the other day- it showed a soldier sitting and reading his mail. he pulls out a letter that reads something to this effect- "The Defense Department regrets to inform you that your mother suffered a massive concusion when she got trampled shopping"

would be funny if it wasn't so true

They recently opened an IKEA here, 1st in line got 2500 bucks worth of stuff. Some lady with 5 kids left them with the hubby for a week and camped out to get her free stuff. 24/7 for a week. Musta been hurting for some bolt together furniture.

I was thinking about buying a filter mignon for my truck this year. I figure the truck deserves it.
That is a low-blow the Capt. spends allot of time making well worded thought out posts and you pick on his one spelling error.

Oh, we all love Cap'n Hohn, and he does indeed post some very thoughtful (and occasionally long) posts, but it doesn't make him immune to some good-natured teasing every now and again.

I went to NAPA & asked for a BHAF mignon, medium rare... ... the counter guy thought I was intoxicated..... maybe I was..... will try Autozone tomorrow...

I've come up with a good excuse:)

I type "filter" so often on this board that my hands are programmed. If I try to type F-I-L-E-T, it comes out F-I-L-T-E-R.

BTW-- If you're going to make filter mignon, you should use a Fleetguard. Cheaper filters can burst when you put it in the oven.

hehe
