On my 2006, I can cycle the key 3 times from off to the accessory position and it will display any codes stored in the system.

Does anyone know how to do this on a 2014 with the push-button start?

My check engine light came on today and the "messages" section in the evic is blank.

Thanks in advance for any and all help.

I think this is accomplished by NOT putting your foot on the brakes, and pressing the button on and off 3 times, just as if it were a key. When you put your foot on the brake, it starts, when you have the foot off the brake, it goes into auxiliary mode. At least that is how my wife's push button Journey works. My truck doesn't have the push button start. You guys and your fancy toys! =P

With the push-button you can't go from acc and then back to off. With your foot off the brake it just cycles from off to acc to run and then back to off.

From the reading I've done, there isn't a way to check codes on the 4th gen trucks without a code reader. I bought a Kiwi 2 to plug into my obd II port, and an app for my phone, seems to work well.

That's correct, with the new trucks you need a code reader. It's been discussed here before.

They work great, I have not removed mine from the OBDII plug for awhile and trust it. It reads codes and explains the code, I highly recommend a Kiwi Wifi II. They are 1/2 the cost of quality code readers, but you get so much more than just reading codes.

Here are some pictures of the basic screen you see with the Dashcommand App. (You need to load an app that can recieve the wifi) Then a picture with my advanced setup with different modules that allow me to display actual gauges that read EGT, Boost and fluid pressures and temperatures.

My iPhone is great, but the Kiwi wifi can also be bought for the Android as well. In fact the Dashcommand app is from DashXL.net which is a windows based program, and there is so much more you can do it, unlike what my MacBook Pro can.

I have a GoPoint BT1 that plugs into the OBD port and provides a bluetooth signal that I pick up with my phone. I also have DashCommand but have found that it won't clear the codes or reset the check engine light. I was just wondering if there was some other way to quickly check the codes like I used to.

What prompted all of this was my factory remote start refusing to work. Yeah, yeah, I know, I'm getting soft as I get older. Turns out the codes were set by something to do with the DEF system. Apparently DEF doesn't like -30. The tech used a Snap-On reader to clear the codes and I was on my way. Thankfully they didn't try to charge me for the 5 minutes of time they were sitting in the drivers seat hitting buttons.

I believe the Edge Insight can also read codes, but I haven't tried it yet.
Joe,

I'd sure appreciate it if you could try yours and let me know what happens. My Insite locks-up every time I try to check trouble codes and I have to disconnect and reconnect the OBDII cable to get it to work again.

Annoying!

John

I'm using the dash command app as well, and it cleared my code fine. Same situation here, got a check engine light and needed to clear it so my remote start would work.

RVTRKN, it looks like you are getting a readout on your radio screen and that it's an aftermarket radio, would I be able to get a readout on my 8.4AN screen with this setup.
