I was wondering how hard it would be to put a divorced transfer case in my 90 dodge. I have a problem with breaking my front cv joint due to the 3 inch lift on the truck. The getrags is getting pretty bad now so i figured when i upgrade to the nv4500 I would get a 2wd transmission and change it to a divorced transfer case.

I don't think it would be too hard. Either make or buy a divorced t-case crossmember, get a divorced case, have some driveshafts made/shortened, get the correct large yokes for the case, and adjust linkage and speedo drive to suit. Piece of cake, right? You can find divorced cases in 60s and 70s Dodge trucks.

what your planning is going to be a major pain in the rear !!! Getting all the drive shaft angles to work together is not easy ! If you have a standard cab your rear drive shaft is going to be real short... If your truck has been lifted you have even a bigger problem... . The divorced 205 case had input shaft wear problems when they were in the gas trucks... .

Check with Tom Woods Driveshafts or High Angle Driveline, or if you have a local driveline shop check there. You probably only need a joint that will allow more angle. You are probably maxing yours out and then it breaks. I know with my truck the front driveshaft is nearly maxed out sitting on level ground. If it had the capability to flex, it would snap it right off.
