Anyone ever build one? Since I have a fair amount of waste oil and fryer grease laying around it would be fun to try. Here is one I found that looks promising, built with an old water heater tank and frypans: http://journeytoforever.org/biofuel_library/ethanol_motherearth/me4.html

If I were to do something like this we'd try it at my brother's place since he's out in the country with a detached shed. If it worked out and we perfected it I'd do one for the garage of the house I'm buying.

I was reading a discussion about this on the ytmag.com site. I believe the one big issue was heat. The thing would get too hot and stop functioning. A search of ytmag forums will give you plenty of information.

Not the same, but similar. Nye thermodynamics, some scientists that like to play with jet engines and such, build a wood fired stove with a turbocharger on top. The turbo would force feed the fire air, while the pressurized "exhaust" would spin the compressor. You could use the same technique on a waste oil heater I guess!
