Has anybody driven a duramax/stick shift combo? All I hear about are the Allison transmission's constantly shifting while towing. I'm wondering how the Dmax would stack up against a Cummins if they both had six speeds.

Not that I'm looking to trade, I'm more then happy with my Cummins. I'm just curious.

I haven't seen very many dura-maxies yet but the ones I have seen from what I can tell are auto. Don't know about the allison or not.

6spd

My freind Ryan has a Dmax with a 6spd behind it and it's pretty mean. It took the dealer a long time to find it too, they told him that most of the Dmaxes being made have the Allison in them. His truck will brake the tires loose in the first 4 gears. His truck runs pretty good driving it as a car but when you put a load behind it (the heaviest it's pulled is his drag car) it falls on it's face and he is very unhappy with the fuel milage. He said he has lost 5 miles to the gallon since winter hit. He road with me lastweek when I was pulling my goose neck and my skidsteer (250 JD with trencher and two buckets) and couldn't beleive it. He said you can't even tell it's back there. I said I know pretty cool ain't it :D and then I stomped the go pedal and hit 80mph before he new what happend. :-laf Gota love that strait six torque. :p

Got my first up close look at a Dmax today. It's not as crowded under the hood as the pics I've looked at make it seem. In fact, I'd say it's a little less crowded than the PSD. I'm pokin' at the guy to run me, anxious to see how it runs against my mildly bombed Cummins
