Dodge got cheap with the 03-04 trucks, and stopped including the noise insulating hood liners. I was curious if the 04. 5 or 05 model trucks have these, and if so, how do they attach? I'm interested in putting one in if they are available. The aftermarket alternatives are less than desireable, aside from the ATP liner, which is really expensive.

My 4. 5 has the liner... I also ordered the Convenience light group that included the light under the hood. I am not sure if that is why I have the liner?

Mine has one. You can get a blanket from your local Dodge dealer. It attaches with a series of plastic clips that you just push into the predrilled holes. Takes about a half hour to install. You could do it by yourself. Help, if available would be better.

I believe the hood liner was added back in on the '04. 5 600's release as a measure to reduce complaints of weird underhood noises.

My '05 has it. On a related subject, my '99 had it too. It rotted out of the '99 so I took it completely out and could not tell any difference.

It sounds like it is pretty easy to install. I was so annoyed at Dodge for not including it on my 04. I know they don't help that much, but any help is better than none. Has anyone tried retrofitting these onto early 3rd gens? I do have the convenience package with the underhood light - just no liner. .

It does. All the holes are there and it takes less than 10 minutes to install. Get's rid of some of the higher pitched ticks and rattles.

Should I assume you've done this then? How much was it and do you happen to have the part #?

EE - nope I haven't. I have dynamatted the rear floor and wall, and all four doors. At one point I had a Fatmat hood liner, but the adhesives were poor and fit was too, ended up ripping it out. I still need to dynamat the floor under the front seats and the headliner, but it's so much work and I've been too busy.

The Hoodliner from the 2004. 5 will fit in the 2004 (I have seen it). Takes 10 minutes to install. I Ordered one this week for my early 2004

My 04. 5 came with one but it was the third thing I removed trying to make the truck sound more like a Cummins powered truck and not a hemi truck. Besides, it didn't fit the SRT hood. Any one in the pacific northwest looking for a hood liner?

My 04 didn't come with one. Now that you mention it, I didn't even notice. :-laf Must have been use to listening to my 98 or 02. Don't think I need one either.
