Do Dana 44s suffer from death wobble?

The reason I ask is that my W250 is a gasser, (i know ) thus it has the 44 front and 60 rear. Sometimes while driving down the highway it gets a little shake to it. I've crawled under the front end and everything seems to feel tight.

Yup. any straight axle has that ability. and many others if the parts are bad enough.

I've got 2 BFG All Terrains on my 91 W250 that are in balance but have a lot of road force. When they are on the back of the truck, it is smooth. When they are on the front of the truck, it'll shake your teeth out on the freeway. I also had another vibration and a popping noise from the front, and it turned out to be a worn axle joint. If you have to dig into the axle that far, I would recommend replacing the spindle bearings at the same time.

A good rule of thumb is if it is a speed sensitive shake, it's the tires. Otherwise look at the suspension and steering components.

I just got through with a problem with my d60 frount havine "the death woble"

well I found out my rotors were warped bad. When I hit the breaks it would start to shake and wouldn't stop even if you let up on the breaks!



I turned the rotors and all is well

I'd say it's definitely suspension related, since it is not always there. Sometimes it's smooth driving, and others it has the shake.
