well i had my flame suit on, i new i was posting in a dodge forum, so what can i expect. think what you want to... . theres still more ford trucks out there than any other kind ;)

Thats because there's a sucker born everyday! I'm just sorry I made that mistake, but I'll only make it once!

the last year of the IDI was 94 also the first year of the powerstroke also 99 was not the first year for the F450 they made the F450 for a long while since the 87-91 body style and all through the 92-97 body style it was just called a F-SUPERDUTY

The reason there are more ford trucks sold than any other is simple: They are CHEAPEST! They constantly get state and federal bids (fire, rescue, DOT, county governments), as well as large corporations who put out for the lowest bid. This accounts for quite a lot of trucks. Our local county road department is across the road from our shop. Their latest two trucks are their first diesels and are sooper doodies. They have had NOTHING but trouble with them. Transmission trouble, typical 6 oh-no troubles (stalling, oil leaks, injector trouble) and warranty hassles. Makes one REALLY proud to drive the "Number 1 selling" truck when the main reason it is "number 1 selling" is because it is CHEAPEST!! On the other hand, we have four Dodge/Cummins work trucka. All have around 120,000-150,000 miles. We have put in one clutch (my fault-tinkered with the cam plate :D ), one rear engine seal failure, two fuel sending unit failures, one transmission rear seal failure and one axle seal failure. We have two '92 models, a '93 model and a '98 model. All are one-ton and have utility bodies. I am glad we do not take the route of buying the CHEAPEST truck, but instead the BEST powered truck. Of course, it helps when I made the decision! lol

I am still curious how Ford can claim to have more trucks on the road than anyone esle? Are they counting all the oval emblems laying in ditches across the country? I am willing to grant the pre-89 dodge was nothing more than a forgone thought. But lets think about this a min. that was 17 years ago. I am curious what the sales number of Dodge Diesel vs. Ford Diesel (any of their failed attempts at an engine) vs. Chevy Diesels (atleast they have figured it out and are a worthy competitor) since 1989.

Some one please answer that
gm has been a worthy competitor in the diesel market since at least 89. whatever the hell you are drinking ,i want some. i'am a big fan of gm and there diesels[older ones]had 8 of them to date, and still own 6 of them. but they are no way in hell in the same league as a ford or dodge diesel. they [up till]the duramax, have been third in diesel sales from the begining. since there first diesel in 83,ford has dominated the diesel market, and even with the crappy launch of the 6. 0,they still do. dont know about now,but till 03 ford held a little over 50% of the diesel market.

LET'S NOT FORGET "FIX OR REPAIR DAILY" AND "FOUND ON THE ROAD DEAD" NEVER HAS A MANAFACTURER WORKED SO HARD TO EARN A BAD REPUTATION. GMC "GARAGE MANS COMPANION" HAS DONE A LONG LIST OF BLUNDERS. CHRYSLER/DODGE IS BETTER BUT NOT BY MUCH. THEIR DECISION TO USE THE CUMMINS WAS WHAT GAVE THEM THE EDGE. THEY ALL HAVE THEIR FAULTS, USING PARTS BUILT BY THE LOWEST BIDDER AND TRYING TO MAKE UP FOR IT WITH A LOT OF HYPE. I HAVE HAD A LOT OF YEARS TO LEARN THE HARD WAY. Ford..... hummm... . wonder why they dumped the IFS beam axle and went back to solid axle, like Dodge. Wonder why in 2005 they decided to copy Dodge's front suspension... . hummmm. I've got nothing against Ford and if they had an solid inline six I'd consider one if I was shopping around.

I've had pretty good luck with my CTDs thus far. All three Big Three pickups are pretty worthless off road vehicles, imho. I would like a short wheelbase vehicle with a 4bt for that.

lol thats funny you say if ford had a decent straight 6. lol in the 80's when they put straight 6 gas jobs in there trucks, it was the best motor they ever made. im not shure why they quit makin it, but it was there long before your cummins ;)
