Remember, the theory mentioned here is turbocharged diesel engines. The 6. 2 would "suck" the oil by, much like a gasser, except for they do not have "vacuum" under a throttle plate, only the restriction from the air cleaner, hose and intake manifold. The turbocharged one would always have somewhat of a positive pressure.

Actually my Blazer is a 6. 2 TD. Had a Banks Turbo kit on it.

It may be time for a valve job. Worn guides and or seals will cause oil consumption. I seem to remember people who worked the 12v's hard saying rebuild the head at 250k and the motor at 500k. Also it may be time for a valve adjustment as I have heard of the valves being out leading to a little more consumption but the principal for that doesnt come to mind. Mine just went through 3 gallons all of a sudden during the last oil change! Only 273k on the clock but it will be getting pulled for a rebuilt engine. Minimize down time and gives me a spare motor to run when I get rid of the truck.

That is a very good possibility, the valve guide seals anyway. I replaced them at 195k or so when I had a small head gasket coolant leak. That is something I can do on the truck without major teardown. Thanks for the idea.

BTW, Smitty. I had to postpone the trip till July. :{

Ya, I know. A combination of family and doc appts set us too far back. Have to be in TX the middle of July, so we will do it after that.
