i wouldnt worry about it unless you have fueling mods... ;)

The second genner's with the VP44 pump is the one that needs the attention, you have the HPCR high pressure common rail not supposed to be an issue. Unless you plan on hot roddin it don't worry about it.

I have one and it has given me a much better sense of security since I installed it. I LIKE to know what's going on. For the money, I think it's a smart mod. IMO, the truck should come with one from the factory, especially since FP related failures have been a major issue for some time that they don't seem very inclined to address.

A fuel gauge is not needed unless you are doing fueling mods as stated by TCluff.

WRONG!!!

WRONG!!!

WRONG!!!

I just got my lift pump replaced by DC. No codes. No rough running. No fuel pressure. Dealer didn't even balk a bit. I told them the first thing I did was change the fuel filter, which was true. They hooked up DRBIII, checked with gauge (mine I would guess) and replaced LP. Maybe you don't need a gauge, but at least get BD's LED FP light. Geno's has them. Comes on at 5psi. A gauge will also let you know if you get a batch of bad fuel and need to change your filter sooner than usual.

'03 and new may have a better LP, but it's not perfect.

I am putting one on both my trucks, I just had the lift pump and the injector pump replaced on my '02. The dealer told me that since the lift pump had low pressure that it damaged my injector pump. If I would have had a gauage I would have known and prevented the damage to the injector pump. Besides I am planning on doing some mods to both trucks very soon.
