Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Do I need a Trans Temp Gauge?

I have a 2001 Dually w/a manual transmission that is basically stock. I am planning on adding some Banks Dynafact gauges within the next few months and was wondering what other gauge I need besides the Pyrometer and Boost Gauge. (I'm going for a 3 gauge pillar mount)

I didn't know if the Trans Temp gauge was mainly meant for Automatics or both. It's either between that or the Engine Oil temp gauge.

I usually run around empty but during the summers I pull a large fish and ski boat and a smaller model ford tractor and implements on a gooseneck.

Would you recommend the Trans Temp Gauge or the Engine Oil Gauge?

Thanks for the input!

Fuel Pressure Gauge?

I would put a Fuel Pressure Gauge ahead of trans temp and/or oil temp on a 98 to 02 24v truck, but if you really like gauges trans temp and rear end temp would be my next thing to watch if I was so inclined.

Apparently Banks doesn't make a fuel pressure gauge so that's why I was stuck between the Trans Temp or the Engine Oil Temp.

Just wondered if one would be more beneficial to the particular rig I have.

Thanks for the reply.

How big a fish do you pull? Sorry I couldn't resist. I went with the Autometer gauges, they were cheaper and they had all the gauges I wanted in the same style. Geno's sells a pod that fits on the top of the steering column. So I have 4 gauges, fuel press (most important with the lp problems we 24v's have), boost, trans temp(needed to fill the third hole on the post), pyro(very important if you bomb at all). The fuel press is a 0-16psi, the trans temp is from 0-300 or so, the pyro is from 0-1600F and the boost is from 0-60psi. Alot of people here run SPA's, or Westech or something like that.

Geno's was cheaper for the Autometer on a couple of the gauges, but Summit racing was cheaper on others.

LOL

Isspro Gauges

Did ya check out www.isspro.com . They make a similar looking gauge to the banks and have all the gauges you need for your truck, meaning they have a fuel pressure gauge too. Check out the pics. You can get them either red or white pointers, and the Pyro, with or without rainbow coloring. EV (Enhanced Visibility) series are real easy to see and has superior night lighting as many here can contest. I have the Marine Version which is the white ones if you want to see them. Check out the readers rigs. If I had to do it again I would probably get the black face as the lighting is better at night with them.

Enjoy...

If I were you I'd forget the transmission guage and pop for a Fuel Pressure Guage.
