Been towing my 12K fifth wheel cross country. In Texas my 48RE transmission has seemed to be sluggish at upshifting when slowly accelerating from a dead stop.

If I get on the throttle it seems to shift sooner and more definitely.

Do I need to get my bands adjusted?

I just had a trans flush and installed a Hytec DoubleDeep pan, which has produced about a 20degree drop in my trans oil operating temps. It's great! :)

Thanks,

Joe

If your bands haven't been adjusted in a while it wouldn't hurt. 2nd will shift harsh when it's a bit too loose. Late shifting can be from the t/v cable being too tight. It shouldn't have any slack but the tighter the cable the later and harder the shifts.

Thanks Billy for the insight ... . I cold tested the transmission this AM towing, and it seemed to shift fine. Only gets a little finicky when it's hot. After reading the simple adjustment procedures it looks like I could adjust the bands myself next fluid change, or before if necessary.

Had the bands adjusted about 8000 towing miles ago by dealer, last year. May be time to do it again, but at least Iam not worried about it now. :)

Regards,
Joe
