Specifically injectors and turbo. I have over 566k miles on the originals and I'm not having any problems, but I can't afford a failure while on the road, especially now that winter is coming. The turbo shaft has no play and I can still make 32 pounds of boost. The engine runs smooth and gives me 19 to 20mpg empty. On the other hand my loaded mileage has gone down a little and it seems like my EGTs are higher when pulling. I like to brag on my high mileage Dodge, but I'm not opposed to replacing parts for preventative maintenance. I'm also aware that I can get a turbo rebuild kit for less than $80, but I can afford a better turbo and am leaning in that direction. I make enough HP so I think I would stay with 215 injectors.

I would change the injectors without question! they wear out over time and their opening pressures start to drop. Get new ones they are cheaper than rebuilt ones in the end. Do the timing on the engine running 15 or 16 degrees. As for the turbo, if it is running then leave it alone. I know rebuild kits are cheap but if you loose the balance on the turbo when you take it apart they self destruct very quickly.

Timing is set at 15. 7 and I have a PDR cam, which probably accounts for my unloaded mileage on ULSD:D

Gary,

I agree with raychem. 2 of my old 370's wouldn't even pop anymore on a pop tester with about 90k miles on them. The truck ran OK, but those 2 where not allowing for efficient burn of the fuel. The pop off pressures of the rest varied quite a bit.

So, replace the injectors and leave well enough alone!

OK, I'm convinced. I ordered a new set from PDR, luckily the dollar exchange rate hasn't increased the price. Now all I need to do is find the puller I fabbed when I had the head off 350k miles ago. Oh, and thanks for the offer Smitty. I'm sure that someone who only drives 10 to 12k a year could use them. :D

I got 215's from pdr and they dropped my egt's a little and the truck ran a bit smoother. They sell matched sets. I think next time I would have went with some ddp injectors and backed up my plate. I have also wanted to try a PDR HX35 with its 58mm (instead of 56 compressor) and a 14 or 16 nongated housing. Milage should go up with larger housing.

Mine now are the PDR 215 balaced units. Thinking the DDP2's might be a little better, but these are doing a good job. Don't care about speed, just good pulling power.

Gary, I also have a PDR HX35. I went with the BD Super and it cooled me off real good, although now I put in a 10 and am waiting till I pull the TT to see how hot it is going to get. May have to go back to the 11. Oh well, just a few screws anyway.

I've heard good things about that turbo, and more than likely it will be my next upgrade. I'm thinking about sliding my #11 back a little. Maybe that will let my latest transmission go past 100k.

Man, that truck has really given you some good service. Helps ease my mind about mine with less than half of the mileage of yours.
