For example, would the injectors in my '96 be wearing out and possibly be needing replacement after 105,000 miles? :D

I like to keep up with the routine maintenance items to assure peak performance and fuel efficiency. :D :D

Yes, injectors wear out. No, I don't think 100k will do it for stock injectors.

The springs get weak eventually and the fine internal clearances wear with age. Most pump shops can test them for you.

I'd NEVER put stock injectors back into one of our trucks. ;)

Thanks Wade. I was thinking if they were getting close to wearing out I oughta replace them and would probably be looking at some stupid aftermarket stuff. Although, from what I've read here the 215s are good for a whole lotta HP, no?

I've heard that BS line from a couple of shops.

If you have concerns, pull them and have an injector shop service and flow them. Usualy under a $100 around here.

370's!! I see no reason to put anything else in there...

I've got 370's in my truck... love 'em... should have come from the factory like this.

Don't post when one is tired. Words get left out.

As Wade stated, injectors wear out, but they are not in the same category as spark plugs and need periodic routine replacment at a fixed miles or hours point.

The BS Line I've heard is from diesel shops that are looking only to sell you a set injectors. If they put in a set of larger injectors, the unsuspecting person will notice a nice feeling in the butt-o-meter and mostly be happy with something they didn't need.

Now, if your looking for an excuse to upgrade, that is entirely a different story.

injectors

I've asked the same question the last 7 years and got many answers. got about 600,000 on the originals and they show no signs of failure. never had them out for inspection, starts up everyday, no smoke, no misses just keeps on running. stormy

It depends on how well the system is maintained more than anything.

Had to replace the fuel injectio nozzles on a self-propelled sprayer at about 1100hrs. Had 950hrs. on it when boss purchased it with a neighbor.

Didn't run very good, and shook. Had them pop tested and they were popping off low and not at the same pressure. After adusting them, 2 of them wouldn't even pop. Just chatter with a steady stream. Put in a new set (not rebuilt) and had them all set the same so they were a matched set. Ran alot better.

Motor got overhauled shortly from being dusted BAD. Previous owner didn't change out the bad air filter, and had no safety filter to stop the dirt like it should have for the operating conditions. It does now. Ran great after that. Alot more power too.

The machine hadn't been taken of very well. It some TLC now.
