Do NOT buy a truck from DICK at Soutars in Barstow, Calif.

They are holding up my truck that I chose for them to be the drop ship point instead of the in town dealer. I bought my last truck at Soutars and gave them a shot at the order, they were too lazy to do a DC credit check, and I'm sorry I chose to have the truck delivered to them (32miles away) instead of the local dealer.

They say they may not have time to do a 1 hr. prep which they are recieving $300 for, going to make me wait another day. Dick (the sales manager)at Soutars has an appropiate first name, he is holding up the deal; I have a call out to DC rep to get this straightend out.

Sorry, had to vent, beats going in there with my shotgun!

I have waited 9 weeks and he is just being Dick, I guess.

update; Talked to DC and Jill Soutar and they had it ready by 4:30 today. Talk to her or Clint (her brother) they really are reputable, they just hire Dicks I guess.

Back in the mid 1980's when I was stationed out at Fort Irwin, lots of guys I knew bought vehicles from the various Soutar's dealerships there in Barstow, and they had several problems even back then. Sounds like things haven't improved much, unfortunately... ...

YEP I was stationed at FT Irwin 95-97 and had nothing but trouble with their service department, when it came time to buy a new truck I went elsewhere.

Driving home from Vegas, my Vp44 took a dump near barstow. Soutars was the nearest dealer, and therefore performed the warranty repair. Major nightmare to say the least. They were not only 4 days late on the repair ( which I had to pay 4 days more rental car fees, to THEIR hertz dealer), but they broke the nipple on the crank case blow by, and said they pressure tested the transfer pump although it is obvious they did not. They have some good people working there, but it is clear there are a lot of schmucks too.
