From one extreme to the other, In Texas we have to deal with the heat in the summer months. This month it was over 100 degrees for about 3 months. We had a record high temp of 112 this summer. My Cummins handles the heat better than anything I have owned. Stopped at a red light, outside temp gauge reading 115, AC on full, and the temp gauge still didnt go over 190. Driving down the road at 70MPH empty, and the clutch fan kicks in to pull more air. IT WAS HOT !!!!

I enjoyed reading your posts about the extreme cold that you have to deal with. In fact, all I ever want to do is read about it since I hate cold weather. (Not ot rub it in, but I was riding my Jetski on the lake yesterday)Someday I would like to drive to Alaska. I hear it is really nice up there. During the middle of a Texas summer would be a good time... .

Fast idling the Cummins keeps it warmer for one reason,it burns more fuel at 1200 rpm's than at 800,more fuel ,more heat. Thermal efficiency is so good at idle, almost nofuel is burned,so very little heat is created,so it never warms up in cold temp where its losing heat faster than it can make it.

Just spanked two more (censored) trucks with powerjokes. I love this! #ad

All the old timers who have been here longer than a day use two stroke oil in thier fuel. I can see why, it is intended to lubricate and burn.

It was minus thirty-five Saturday. The Cummins fired right up, the Neon did not.
If you guys think you "smoke" people out there, you should try -35. You can lose people in your cloud #ad

Hey, Mike I don't know who gave you the outdated blending chart. But our winter #2 in LJ has a -10 to -20 cloud point. The #1 has close to -35to-40. We also have a premium diesel(much mo additive) with a -30 rating. I use Amzoil Centane booster and Shamrock fuel! Our local P-66 dealer has a habit of adding a little water to his storage. I may go ahead and do a cloud point test to confirm those numbers,But acording to Phillips higher ups this is correct.

Champane Flight, U have certainly confirmed what I've suspected. There is no standardization of fuels offered & it makes looking into what u r pouring into your Cummins more than worthwhile. If I didn't supplement my fuel w/ Power Service or some other antigel, I suspect I would have difficulty on days like this a. m. when it was -1degF. I have also noticed that I am maintaing my high summer mpg #'s. No "winter blues". #ad
That would lend credibility to their claiming the #2 is not blended-only a additive pkg is used. I use stock tire size, park in exact same spot for refueling & spend 5-10mins "topping" off to get an accurate as I'm gonna get mpg#'s & I do get reproducible results. Here's some highlights of what the Phillips Pipe Line Co sent me. The blending chart is on Power Point & I don't know how to get it in here but I did recheck the -12degF Cloud Pt it's stating. How do u do an accurate cloud pt test yourself? #ad

Look up Cloud point testing for distilates ASTM standard? It is much the same as cloud point testing we used to do for Jet fuel or Philjet. The procedure basicaly reduces temp of product down below 0 by encasing in dry ice and water. Then as temp drops stirring sample on constant until cloud develops. Then record temp. This is cloud point. Pour point happens shortly after as stirrer stiffens. This explanation is not quite as technical as ASTM but will suffice. Do I know you Mike?
