Do rings rotate in the cylinder?

I thought they would randomly rotate unless you are using a tornado in front of the turbo. In this case they would SPIN. I don't know what happens if you are using twins, though.

It depends. If both turbos rotate the same direction, the rings will spin twice as fast. Probably too fast and will wear the cylinders out in short order. Now if the turbos rotate in different directions, thats even worse, cause then the rings wont rotate at all. Either way you are jacked. So as you can see twin turbos will not work on our motors. :-laf This is rookie stuff guys come on. And rev gain only plays a factor if you can mention 3 big names in one post just so you can prove you are somebody.

I disagree with the ar15 statement.

I would agree that it would reduce reliability by reducing gas blowback pressure but there is not enough of an opening to discharge that much gas without operating the bolt.



Most AR15 reliability issues are usually caused by a weak extractor spring.

"D" rings will eliminate the extractor spring issue.

What direction to they rotate?

They rotate in the opposite direction south of the equator

Yeah, what am i missing here, ar15s dont have a "gas piston" like the MIA and M1garand. the only piston rings are on the bolt where it rides inside the bolt carrier. the bolt unlocks and rotates as the bolt carrier is forced back in the receiver. I guess if you lost the ring all together you might get enough blowby to cause and operating issue, but so far i have not had any issues with any of my ARs. But then again, none of them are anywhere near stock. perhaps the quality of the parts is the answer
