for those that know, or for those that have seen the new trucks with the cummins engine [and have peaked underneath it:)], does anyone here know if they come equipped with a cat [soot trap]. . i am hoping that in 2003, when i hopefully order my nicely equipped 04 that it doesn't have a cat. and of course, i do not want the egr [that's why a 04 and not a 04. 5]

thanks all

I haven't seen in person, but everything I've read says that the California engine has a cat, but the 49 state version and the HO version don't.

I just prepped one today and was at training school two weeks ago and no cat convertor on 49 state vehicles.

CAT not required except California

The 49 State product does not require a catalyst to meet the current emissions levels thru January 2004.

The CARB rating requires a catalyst due to the lower NOx standard in California.
