Lots of info from all of you but what should a guy do with his truck 1st. Is there any harm in removing the turbo silencer ring?

Does any one make a replacement pipe if you want to remove your CAT? What are the best upgrades iyho's and what order should a guy do them in? Is there a best camplate for a stock turbo'd, automatic '95. Anyone have a blueprint for a guy getting started on his mods? It would be greatly appreciated. Anxious to here from you pro's and suppliers out there. Thanks for the input!!

'95 2500 SLT extended cab, automatic, no mod's except wrapped turbo exit pipe

No matter what modifications you perform boost and pyro gauges should come first. Not only will they warn you of potentially engine damaging situations but will also help you establish a baseline on the effects of future modifications. After that a fuel plate and air filter mods will give you the most noticeable power increases. Unless your cat is clogged exhaust systems mods won't help much until you get into higher horsepower. By that time your automatic transmission should be upgraded first.

I agree completly with illflem and when you decide to go straight pipe check muffler shops, I had mine removed and the pipe welded back in for $50. 00, beats paying $60-70 and laying on your back fighting it. The silencer ring does nothing at all except quiet the turbo whistle. Call Mark at TST http://www.tstproducts.com/

If you remove the silencer ring it just makes the turbo more noisy. No difference in power. Before doing anything that affects power get an EGT gauge at the very least. I have a combo EGT/boost gauge from Geno's. It works well. Your truck is the same as mine except for mods so feel free to e-mail me if you have questions. It's best to mount the pyro for the gauge in the manifold instead of after the turbo. I move mine and there is quite a difference in response.

Your truck is the same as mine. I agree with the other guys. Get the guages 1st then go with a tst plate and air intake mods. When I removed the cat there was no difference in power or milage. Just a little more noise but not objectionable. After I did the guages and tst, k&n air filter, cat removal I had Bill Kondolay of DTT do his magic on my auto transmission. I love my truck and it does everything I want it to and then some. I tow a high profile 26 ft travel trailer with no problems. I will not do anything else as I dont want to sacrifice dependability for more power. I already have it in spades. My trk now has 119,000 miles on it with no problems. I plan on driving it until at least 300,000 miles.

Feel free to email me if you have any other questions about what I have done. See my signature for my truck.
