Interesting article about a State Trooper

Mine are all trucks. I HATE a pickup bed! Both of mine and all our company ones have aftermarket beds.

My Jeep is "truck based" in the SUV world, meaning that it is rear (correct) wheel drive or 4-wheel drive. The little Honda Pilot and Element and the Toyota RAV, etc are "car based" in that they are front wheel drive, which I am NOT a fan of. Most SUV's are more a "truck" than a "car", in that you can tow a decent trailer with them, go off road with them and they are strong enough to take a bit more abuse than a car.

I call my Liberty "the Jeep".

I've got another "whatchamacallit". Do you call it a car, suv, sport utility, or, as I call it, a station wagon on steriods. I remember sport utilities as being ford broncos', chevy K-5 blazer, jeep CJ-5/7.

I used to have a 97 Tahoe and I usually called it a truck. But it was lifted oversized tires loud pipes etc. The way I figured it a 97 Tahoe and a 97 1500 were the exact same until you got to the rear doors and back. So therefore truck. Never called it a pickup though.

Pick-em-up truck is another one of my favorites.

Hmm, here on the ranch it can get really confusing if you just say something about a truck, so pretty much everything gets a more descriptive name:

07 Dodge 3500 Megacab: The Blue Dodge (was called Big Blue til we got the Peterbilt which is blue and a LOT bigger)
95 Peterbilt 379: The Peterbilt
98 Dodge 3500 QC with Flatbed: The Old Dodge (can't call it the flatbed since that refers to the 20K gooseneck trailer)
89 Ford F250: The Ford
79 GMC General Dump: The Dump Truck

From good 'ol Webster:

truck - wheeled vehicle for moving heavy articles: as a: a strong horse-drawn or automotive vehicle (as a pickup) for hauling

car - a vehicle moving on wheels

pickup - a light truck having an enclosed cab and an open body with low sides and tailgate —called also pickup truck

Ryan

by definition ,this is a truck. :-laf;)

hmmm would that be a one horsepower truck?
round here have to use the correct term in the correct area... if you are in town, its a truck. If you are out working cattle in my grandparents neck of the woods (southwest Nebraska) you call it a pickup.
When talking to close company... they are trucks... although always called my dad's '01 2500 a pickup, just didnt quite make the cut for me.
Will see your one horsepower and raise a couple... just have to direct the power yet ;)

i didnt no we were givin out our personal names for em. i call mine the 'silver bullet' 0-60 in 30seconds flat :-laf

more recently i started calling her 'wolverine'. i guess the color makes me think of a timberwolf, an i like the way wolverine sounds better. besides wolverines are froucious violent animals, known to take out bears. i think its appropriot :D

Lately I've been calling mine "POS", preceeded and follwed by any number of colorful adjectives.

On topic though, mine is a truck. I don't care if it has a factory bed and/or tailgate. It pulls a 30K trailer. It's a truck.
