Caliber

. 45 ACP personal defense- 230 grain JHP- . 40 cal loaded to mild IDPA power factor in LTC bullet for steel and general fooling around with SVI Infinity, Rifle- . 308 Federal 168 gr Match out of Iron Brigade Armory Remington 700 Tactical or . 270 Winchester in Browning BAR for game- various loads.

Oooh, but there are so many!

I've had 2 . 41's very nice caliber. I sold one (mistake-never sell a short-arm) and the other was converted by Hamilton Bowen to a . 45 Colt-based 5-shot monster pistol. He builds the cylinders in house and you can stuff all the powder and lead you want into it. I have chronographed up to 1300 fps with 350 grain LBT pills. It's slightly painful at that level.

Most of my sidearms are . 45 Colt or ACP. Kimber SS 5" is my carry gun.

. 30-06 is my main deer buster.

. 375 H&H is my big deer buster.

. 280 Mountain rifle is my current project.

But I'm wildcatting from now on so I see a . 338/06 variation as my next do-all rifle and I'm going to build a . 17 Ackley Bee on a single-shot.

This Labor Day we'll be shooting my buddies brand new Armalite in BMG . 50!!!Oo. as well as assorted class III ordinance (223, 9, 45, 30c, etc. ).

Wade, I've been talking to Bowen recently too. Although for me it was just trying to get the . 41 redhawk to shoot. It doesn't want to go bang every time. I'll be sending it off soon. He does have a nice website though.

I also have a SBH that is currently with Gary Reeder to be converted to. . . 5 shot . 41 mag.

Never seen his website, but I've been to the shop. Bowen work isn't cheap, but it is well worth the money. I'd put any of his work up against anybody else in the country. Money well spent--I wish I could afford more of his stuff.

mdlowry, Does that Redhawk have stock springs or aftermarket ? If they are stock I'd take a guess that the main spring is getting soft. If they are after market, just put in a more stout spring to fix. The Redhawk is a piece of cake to disassemble. I have Trappers springs in mine.
