Do You Let Anybody Drive Your Truck

My wife says my truck is fun to drive and she likes driving it when she gets the chance. Said the acceleration is a lot stronger than her Lexus LX470 SUV. My son-in-law who works with me has driven it and admits it would blow away his '99 Suburban. Both have received instructions on watching the EGT and shutoff and when to us OD etc.

Neighbor comes over to ask if he can borrow my truck to move his kid out of his house...

He drives around an old beater dented on all 4 corners.



I said SURE, soon as you provide a $40,000 CASH security bond!



I ain't making heavy payments on this truck just so's HE can use/abuse it.

Yes I let the people I trust drive it. It is a truck and it can be replaced. At least that is what I tell myself. I let one friend drive it because her car is not to reliable. She went on a blind date with someone she met on a dating site, loveataol or something. I let her take my truck. The whole night I could only think about her safety, not about my $50,000+ truck that could be replaced.

I let the wife drive it, but she says it scares her. Quite a bit more power than the 460.

Yep, you can drive it! Don't wrap it around a pole and don't ditch it..... other than that I'm cool with it... ... Why, it the Oklahoma DTT test drive truck... my invention.

Registered mine for 35k gross and any of my friends with a CDL are welcome to drive it. (heh, heh, heh,) I beg my 5' gorgeous wife to drive it but she won't unles it is the only option. (just doesn't like those training wheels and the flatbed and the stacks and... ) but she sure looks fine cruising down to the store.

Wife has driven mine about 12 times in the past 6 years. Except for the wife letting our son-in-law use in once, I have been in truck anytime someone else was driving.

Let's see. My wife drives it (does pretty good, too - at least until she floored it at 1500 RPM in 5th right after I installed the EZ - that got her eyes as big as saucers and a "Holy S**t out of her!) Grandpappy (a fellow LSTDR member) has driven it. A couple of gearhead buddies from my college days have driven it (with me in it. ) One of my employees has driven it (again, with me in it. ) Guess that's about it.

My Dad and Brother have both driven my truck. Both of them have CTD's so I don't worry and besides all they ever do is move it out of the driveway when I am not in town. My girlfriend does not even ask to drive. She had plenty of experience in fast cars and such but just does not want to mess with my truck... . Everytime I as she says "I like it when you drive". .

Usually not. Most cute girls can manage to get in the drivers seat but no one else. If it is loaded no one at all touches it cause the clutch slips.

I don't let anyone drive my Dodge or Jeep. Maybe someday I might though. I think since I have owned my Dodge I have only let one other TDR member drive it once when he wanted to know how the 6-speed was to drive.

Not too likely!! I once let a buddy use my pos Ford that I traded for my new baby, and he did $7K damage to it Then he didn't want to pay for it and my insurance rates went up $1K a year. Once bitten... ... ... However I might let someone that I really trusted and who understood diesels and standards drive it... ... ... maybe... ... . maybe. I know they can be replaced... ... ... . but at whose expense

Betcha didn't know you could stall one of these in 1st gear...

My daughter started driver's ed last week and already figured out how. Idling up the driveway and mash the brake hard without using the clutch. Good thing too, stopped 10ft short of the garage door.









I love my truck. I love my kids too. The truck is temperamental too, but a lot easier to fix. Wonder how to get those claw marks out of the dash.

Let's see now, I've taken my truck to the dealer for three recalls. That means someone else has driven it three times. So far, my wife has not shown any interest in getting behind the wheel. Someday, I will persuade her to learn so if an emergency arose, she could "bail" me out.

A select few are allowed to drive my truck. It's usually someone close to me who pays for half the fuel. I let my oldest daughter use it several times, she liked it so now she drives her own, it's a Dodge, too. She must have inherited a few smarts although at times I wondered about that. I've asked my wife to drive it several times... I've had it for a year and a half, she's never sat behind the wheel. I bought it with the slushbox and power driver's seat for her to reach the pedals but no takers there. Well actually I'm glad, she'd drive it and probably like it and well I'd probably have to go buy another. You just can't win!
