I like the doors, do not like the dash/gauges at all, I do like the added room for the rear seat, I do not like the grill treatment.

Overall, I like the currant 2nd gen RAM styling better than the new one.

How do you like the new RAM?

new ram

The nose of 01's and earlier is pretty soft, tne new 02's are even worse. I could probably throw a tennis ball thru the grill.

Sports.

The sport model is not to bad as the paint does not highlight the grill like the chrome does making it look so big.

I like their engineering on the radiator and A/C condensor. the A/C cond. sets off by itself and has elect. fan, good idea! No hot air fron A/C cond. thru Rad. But I'm afraid the rads on our CTD's are too large for them to do the same on them.

I just bought a 2000, because it is the best looking truck in the WORLD!!! I also love the way the present Cummins sounds. I am sure that both of these things are going to change with the 03 3/4 and 1 tons. Also I would never buy the first year of any new vehicle production. I don't see how they could make our trucks better looking, they didn't do it with the 02 1500 series.

I think they look like a freakin Toyota Tacoma. I usually trade every 3-5 years, but if if this the direction their headed, I'll have my 01. 5 for a LONG time...

I have 2001. 5 short bed auto 3/4t Ram. With all my toys I go down the road at 21k#. I buy new trucks about every two years

but they say the 2003 will be out next fall, so i hope i will beable to see a 2003 before I'm not able to get 2002 body

I really like the body style of my truck, would be hard to improve upon. The only 3rd gen I've seen was on their commercial and I think I like it.

I don't like it as well as the current model. I certainly would not rather have the half ton model than my Tundra. I'm anxious to see the new one-ton, not that I can afford one after buying my wife the Tundra!

I like the exterior better than the current model but the interior on the new ones seems to much like a car. That huge grill seems to be pretty flimsy also. All in all I would buy one if they kept the current Cummins. Dont know if I could handle a quiet diesel.

Don't you buy no ugly truck..

From the side it looks like the strip down model of todays truck. Hard to believe it was a SLT package.

From the front you definetly can see the uero look from Benz. IT does appeal to me at all. But maybe they wan't to make it more appealing for the germans.

The interior looked ok. But I have not yet been in one yet. I thought the gauges were neat and sporty like.

People I have talked to so far is they do not like the looks of the truck. Maybe Ford and Dodge are trying to compete in building the ugliest 1/2 ton truck now days?

I like it!

Well guys:

I guess I'm one of the few who like it. I have a 1996 1500, a 2000 2500 and I will have a 2003 3500 crew cab. I think the new truck looks modern and sporty. I really like the headlights, the smooth body lines and the interior.

I remember when the "next generation" came out in '94. I fell in love with it when so many of my friends thought it was ugly.

What will really be nice is if DC puts an updated (and rattling) 300 + Hp/550 Ft lb tq Cummins and a beefy 5 spd automatic that can handle it.

Finally, the 2003 might just be that gunmetal gray. Great new color.

Well, there's my $. 02 worth.

What the new truck needs to satisfy me. (I don'y plan on getting one but if I were... )

1) A NEW look. Remember "Dodge... Different"? This is not. They went from leader in '94 to follower in '02. The Powerwagon nose looks like it might fit on the new cab. With the Germans running the show, they probably won't spend the money to build it. Too bad, they should.

2) How about a real back seat? I guessing most of the engineers that worked on the design have never ridden in a true (pre-downsized) full size car. Remember when you could put 6 adults in a car and drive to dinner comfortably? You can't even do that in a full size "4 door" truck any more unless you buy a ford or chevy.

3) Drivetrain improvements. The new engine holds the most promise. I have heard from a pretty good source that Cummins will be back on top of the pick-up power wars.

The front axle should be hung by leaf springs. Ford finally got that right. It is simpler and cheaper to service and cheaper and easier to lift.

The front axle should have lockouts with a CAD option.

The only thing I liked about the new truck was the back seat room. It's not nearly as good as a Ford or Chevy but lots better than what we have now. Hope the 2500-3500 series looks much better than the 1500.
