perormance market????? I certainly do..... in fact I think the entire lifestyle we like is largely over..... thanks to some greedy MF'ers..... and to think Oil was as low as $11/BBL in 1998!!!! Then along comes BUSH!!!!!!!!!!!!

As much as I dislike Bush, never voted for him, I don't believe one can blame him for this situation. Yes, our lifestyles have been changed, some things on the the positive side. We are slowing down. We're taking less unnecessary trips. We are being forced to maintain our trucks better. We're making sure that we keep the correct inflation on the tires.

We must keep our chin up and weather the storm. This too will pass.

Oh I totally disagree.........

"We must keep our chin up and weather the storm. This too will pass" - while I hope you're right - "ain't gonn'a happen!" our lifestyles we liked is OVER!!!!! There's a whole lot of people that are involved with jobs and business that are totally discretionary income based... . that will start to be heavily impacted ... .....

Blame Bush if it makes you feel better...

There is plenty of oil in the Alaska and off shore...

Ask your self, Who is stopping it from being procured,
Who is stopping new refineries ?

Like it was said in an old movie I saw---What it all boils down to is that WE are the ARABS; refering to BIG OIL.

Who's stopping New Refineries - that's NOT the question!!!!

Blame Bush if it makes you feel better...

Look at who CLOSED all the refineries in the 70's on - because there was EXCESS capacity... your friends at BIG OIL!!!!!

Somebody is definitely watching the store.

Let do a comparison: When cities expand: They increase their water storage capacity, build new roads add sewer lines to match the capacity.

I guess your big city Oil Executives only now certains types of math. :)

Why is it that Bush is blamed for the rising price of fuel AROUND THE WORLD, but he doesn't get any credit for having some of the lowest fuel prices in the world right here in the US of A? Personally, I think you way overestimate Bush's ability to get anything done.

I think anything that happns wil be temporary at best. We will do what has been done in the past... . get used to the price, what ever it does and will continue on. When I started driving gas was about $. 25 per gallon and I am still looking for performance upgrades and going fast.

Me too . 25 cents for gas and . 15 cents for diesel what happened? I could top off my motorcyle for less than a quarter and that was full services. Some days I would have them just put in . 14 cents and go next door to the store and get a glass bottle 16 oz Coke for 10 cents and a penny tax to burn up my quarter. I was coming out of my skin and could not believe it when diesel hit $2. 00 a gal. Its BS and we are be led around by the nose like sheep. Its funny when oil hit $50 a barrel oil rigs sprung up all around my place,it was worth while to drill again and they were making money. Now its at $100 a barrel so they are making 100% more and were making good money at $50 a barrel. They are out of control and know they have us bent over a barrel. I'll get off my bucket. #@$%!

I have two performance rigs and don't have to drive them. My daily driver is a NEON. I drive 3 miles to and from work.

I personally am looking to by/build performance parts for my trucks.

I dont think it will affect it... guys that can afford to mod their rigs to the max can probably afford to drive them... .

my birth certificate didn't come with a guarantee that I'd get to live the life I wanted to live and do everything I wanted to do. :(

blaming Bush is silly... he's just a puppet. Dick Cheney is FAR more responsible and more powerful than Bush is...

oil prices can be blamed on greed in a free market society. You can't blame any one person, and you certainly can't blame Bush, he just happened to be born his father's son

I'm Not blaming Bush.....

I'm just saying that when he came in OIL was a whole lote cheaper than it is today... ... ... ..... and as he represents the oil industry - just connect the dots... . do his best friends want oil at $11/BBL where it was in 1998  or at $110 as it is TODAY?????

... . keeping the military infrastructure in Iraq earmarks a huge amount of petroleum resouces..... M1A1's and the like don't run on their good looks!!!!

. . but again, thats just another part of the equation:mad:... . time will tell if oil shale deposits can be recovered,or,refineries built/upgraded,or new drilling in ANWR or ANYWHERE..... in the meantime we're stuck with high prices for the forseeable future... . it's likely to get worse before it gets ANY better... keep a light foot on the throttle!!... ... ... ... . tom:cool:

I believe it's a safe bet to leave bush and the Clinton's out of this. Neither one had anything to do with todays high cost of oil. Maybe there are things that the present administration can do to hold back the escalation, but for whatever reason have chosen not to. So we just tough it out.

The new focus in OEM and aftermarket performance should be to recapture diesel fuel economy that has been lost to emissions. What would the fuel mileage be on the newer the diesels if it was allowed to evolve without the government mandated emissions crap, in particular the DPF and EGR? Do we really need it?

What if diesel mfg’s were challenged or required to increase engine fuel efficiency 10% every 5 years?

That is a question I would like an honest answer to. We have seen in the diesel challenge that Diesel Power Magazine sponsors that power and economy can co-exist though not simultaneously.

The common rail is easily tune-able and with today’s 2008 technology should get far better mileage than my 1990 CTD which averaged 21. 4 running 60 to 80 on one recent 280 mile trip. It also gets 18 mpg on short trips running for parts up and down my mountain.

I service a 2006 Mega Cab that gets 25mpg. I’m all for saving the planet for future generations of children, but is burning more fuel to less work really helping?

2008 is to the diesel what the 70’s was to the gasoline engine. Power and mileage loss, air pumps, egr, unleaded gas and catalytic converters. It took years to get back on track.

I feel the diesel will come back but will it be too late?

Rising fuel costs currently $4. 00 plus per gal hurts everyone.

My brother in law went to school for the new generation diesels and was told that the exhaust of the new generation diesels is going to be cleaner than the air we breathe! Give me a break, is this necessary? Who is setting the goals here?

Mite it be relatives of the same people that proposed seat belts on motorcycles in the 60’s or 70’s?

The people in government that propose most regulations and laws see little to no impact because they are at a level in society that lives above the effected population.

In many instances I would bet they likely vote an article into law lacking facts because it sounds like a good idea!

I’ve said many times that people that ***** and complain about their jobs and want more, more, more should walk in the shoes of an unemployed man or woman. Then they may understand what they have and what is right!

The same goes all the local, state and federal employees that are elected and appointed to serve our best interests. They should spend some time down where the rubber meets the road, maybe a little insight would temper their actions.

Spitzer thought he was above it all but he eventually got caught with his pants down!

Sorry for ranting and rambling but I had to say my piece
