Talk about eating their own ... yikes

What type transmission does ford F-550&650 use with cummins app?

How often do or would one use the exhaust brake without towing or anything in the bed? I will not be towing often, although i understand it helps warmup during cold weather too.

I use my BD pretty much all the time, loaded or empty. It will help to warm up the engine faster by retaining heat that would otherwise be lost. Don't use this to heat the truck up toasty warm. You will be killing the engine. Five maybe ten minutes max. I never warm up more than five. Just keep my rpm's and boost way low.

I use mine all the time. I took it off of a truck I sold and couldnt wait to get it back on this one. It will save a lot of brake wear and slows you down pretty good around town when backing off. Didnt notice if you have a auto or standard trans, the auto is not as effective as the 5spd with the ex brake but well worth the money, some of the best I have spent so far.

One more thing I like to add. With winter coming on, test out that exhaust brake on a slippery but safe area. It can put you in a 180 real quick if your making a lot of braking pressure.

Me too, use it everyday, rain or sun ( be cautious on the wet roads, though I never had a problem with traction). The only thing that $ucks about the large injectors is that I can't just leave it on while driving. If I leave the brake on while slowing and downshifting, I stall everytime coming down from 4th to 3rd gear. It did infrequently with step 3 injectors, but does it everytime with the 5's. No big deal as I have the toggle on the shifter and just turn it off when downshifting. Anyone else experience this with the larger injectors ??? Should mention that I have the 4" BD brake. It's great for a quick warm up when you can't plug in.

I use mine every day-for warming up in the AM (depends on how long the Espar has been running and how long the truck's gonna sit until I start moving) and once it's hit the road. My job entails a lot of starting and stopping-so my E-brake gets quite a workout. :p Doing its job though-last time I rotated my tires my brakes still looked like brand-new.

Probably helps some that my previous job was driving a 6-axle tank truck-your Jake is your best friend as a truck driver (if you have enough foresight to plan ahead on your route you won't have to use your brakes hardly at all-I know mine were pretty much reserved for emergencies or bringing the truck to a complete stop when reaching a destination).

Yes, use when not towing. Because:

1) Owner's manual says use once or twice per day to avoid valve sticking.

2) Saves regular brakes.

3) IT'S FUN.

Like others, I like having the option of using for warm-up and/or extended idling, but, if I have the choice I'll drive off slowly. I hate burning fuel when I'm not moving; kills mpg.

For manuals, the shift-mounted switch is a "must have" option.

To be straight forward...

If you put an E-Brake ona completely stock auto, it will be fried in short order.

Ya need to give Bill K. a call to see about using an e-brake on an auto, He'll give you the best options for your truck, and your uses, even if the best option isn't one of his products.

I don't agree with that. I put a LOT of miles on my '95 towing a 32' travel trailer with a stock auto with a e-brake and had no damage caused by the e-brake. However, the e-brake is worthless unless you have some way to maintain torque convertor clutch lockup while braking. That can cause damage if you don't do it right. For that you need the Smart Controller from Bill K.

i use mine all the time espisally if drive in city traffic for about a week and want to blow out the carbon just take out on the highway get it up to 75-80 mph and wait for some jerk to pull up behind you then drop the gun (exhaust brake) and watch the smoke fly then he will back off real fast:eek: :D :D
